Andrea Ramolo (acoustic guitar/vocals/tap dancing);
Jason Skiendziel (double bass/mandolin/stomp box)
Influences
Janis Joplin, Lucinda Williams, Emmy Lou Harris, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Stevie Nicks, Ani Difranco, Serena Ryder, Hawksley Workman, Martha Wainwright, and anyone else I've come across who is unabashed with their truth, their sex, their life. My fellow minstrels and friends... Cindy Doire, Ory No'Man, Scott Cook, Sarah Burton, Diana Catherine and the Thrusty Tweeters, Jesse D and Jacquie B, Jimi Maze, Serena Postel, The Strip, Jadea Kelly, The Good Lovelies, Sean Pinchin, and my one man band, to mention a few. Mountains, glaciers, bison, the Northern lights, Laird Hot Springs, mama grizzlies, ferry rides, red sandy beaches, ghosts on the Eastern Shore Highway, and many more.
Since releasing her debut album “Thank You For the Ride” in October of 2008, Andrea Ramolo has become known as the “tireless road warrior” having completed two East Coast tours, gigs all over Ontario, and a Nashville showcase. Most impressive, however, was the five month cross Canada tour of 80 shows that she booked all herself, from Ontario to the West coast, up to the Yukon, and all the way to Newfoundland and back.
After 40,000 kms of living in her van and developing a fan base all over the great North, Andrea is set to be working on her second release. She’s been described as the antidote to too much Joni Mitchell, a tougher Dolly Parton, a sexier Janis Joplin, and has even been compared to Canada’s own Serena Ryder; but Ramolo has a sound that is all her own. Drawing stories from real life experiences, her songs are direct, to the point, funny, sexy, and vulnerable all at the same time. She is a born performer who oozes confidence and sensuality and has been described as fearless, raw, and emotional.
This past year, Andrea was featured at the South Country Fair in Alberta, the Sunstroke Music Festival in Whitehorse, the Saskatoon Berry Festival in Mortlach, In the Dead of Winter Music Festival in Halifax, The Sasquatch Festival in Northern Alberta and The World Skills Festival at the Calgary Stampede grounds.
Andrea has shared the stage with Stacey Earle and Mark Stuart, Colin Linden, Twilight Hotel, Coco Love Alcorn, and Slowcoaster (to name a handful), and has lent her vocal talents to recordings for The Trews, Martha and the Muffins, Cindy Doire, and The Strip. In 2009, she won the Toronto Exclusive Magazine awards for Best Female Folk Artist, Best Folk Album, and Best Blues Song. She was also asked to be a guest speaker at the 2009 Ontario Council of Folk Festivals Conference in Ottawa on booking independent tours. This young woman has years of songwriting, singing, and success ahead of her.

What The Media Says:
Andrea is a “young tunesmith, who comes with her fair share of fire and attitude” (Peter North, The Edmonton Journal).
“The Toronto-based singer has the whiskey-soaked (journalese for blues-y) pipes to land a song straight into your cerebral cortex” (The Vancouver Courier).
Andrea’s music is “… sultry, raw, emotional, and unabashedly honest” (Evan Careen, High River Times).
“As a songwriter Ramolo is a first-class talent, using the broad brush of lyrical narrative to infuse characters, places, and events with vibrant panache” (Wildy’s World Online Review).
“If there’s one thing that isn’t lacking for Miss Uncensored, it’s the ability to speak her mind. Ramolo has been praised for her unabashed approad to songwriting, telling it how it is in singles like Lovesick Blues, Owl Eyes, and the album’s title track” (Simon Druker, Stony Plain Reporter).
"Andrea Ramolo has a voice like Lucinda Williams, like Emmy Lou Harris, like Martha Wainwright...a voice that sounds like it knows the answers to life's mysteries...the kind of voice Roy Orbison would have written songs about...her songs...are so powerful they'll break your heart. Thank You For The Ride is one of those songs, like Octoberman's Run From Safety or Jason Collett's Hangover Days or Elliott Broods' The Bridge..." (Rob Slack, Lopticulations, Volume 3, Issue 5)

Hello, my friend. Another Tankism to brighten your week. Hope it helps :)
Look at life from the perspective of what you have NOW, what you are grateful for NOW. If you continue to look into the PAST as to what you have lost, when you open your PRESENT, you will not like what you get. However, by focusing firmly on where you are directing your FUTURE by thinking on those things which are good and pure and what you do want to happen, as you unfold your PRESENT, you will find the gift that you know you really want. And, it really is that simple. As a wise person once said: If you believe you can't, you're rightif yet if you believe you CAN, you're right. What do you believe? :)
I'm hitting the road in a couple of weeks to raise money for War Child, Coast-to-coast – 50 cities – ALL PROCEEDS TO WARCHILD. Why? 66% of all war victims are CHILDREN. Shocked like me? War Child helps these children that have been affected by war. Check out the new blog – the whole story is up there. Love to have you be a part of it.
You’ll find a Blog, Tour page and a Bio page. I’ll be blogging daily from the road.
Many of your comments are of people promoting their albums, which reminds me that I still have to buy yours! This week for sure! :)
I hope you're having an awesome summer! Have fun touring!<3
