He..s been performing with his usual trio with Demian Cabaud and Alex Frazão for the past 4 years, featuring at times special guests like George Garzone, Sara Serpa, Albert Sanz or Noah Preminger. The last album Rosa-Shock was released in 2008
He..s a member of vocalist..s Sara Serpa 5tet, an Inner Cirlcle Music artist who released ¨Praia¨ in 2008. This group performs often in several New York venues.
André also collaborated with Mikado Lab, a group that focus on inventive drummer Marco Franco's repertoire and that recorded ¨Baligo Songs¨ 2007 and most recently, ¨Coração Pneumático¨ 2009.
He participated on ¨Communion One¨, released on FSNT, a group that features Bill Carrothers and is led by drummer Joao Lencastre. Matos will be recording Lencastre..s new project in NY soon.
The first album was out in 2005 on Fresh Sound New Talent www.freshsoundrecords.com , "Small Worlds" with Nathan Blehar (ts), Leo Genovese (p), Demian Cabaud (b) and Ziv Ravitz (dr).
You can find the latest album ..Rosa-Shock.. (TOAP 024 2008) at Tone of a Pitch Records www.toapmusic.com. It features Demian Cabaud, Alex Frazao, Sara Serpa and Albert Sanz. A new recording has been done this time with a New York band, featuring Leo Genovese, Thomas Morgan, Ted Poor, Sara Serpa and Noah Preminger, to be released in 2010.
André has a Bachelor..s Degree from Berklee College of Music and a Master..s of Music Degree from New England Conservatory. He currently lives in New York.
