If the road wasn’t made for touring, then what was it made for?!
Being hailed as one of the hardest working musicians out there, Andrew Allen has undoubtedly earned the title. He was born entertaining.
With only a year under his belt as a solo artist, he’s shown that he not only has the drive, he’s got the whole highway! Hitting the road with a full tank of finely tuned pop songs, an incredibly entertaining live show and what seems like limitless energy, Andrew has proved time and time again that his songwriting style – sandwiched uniquely between the styles of Jason Mraz, John Mayer and Maroon 5 – mixed with his quirky personality, are the right ingredients for success.
In one year alone Andrew has achieved what many spend years to accomplish. Since the release of his debut album ‘The Living Room Sessions’ in April of 2008, he's sold over 2000 copies of the record independently, toured and played live in more than 250 venues throughout Western Canada and the UK (booked solely by him), secured airtime on the UK’s BBC Radio 1 as well as on Canada’s own CBC radio. Andrew has also received the rating of top 30 plays on the X in Kamloops as well as top 10 folk records of the year on the same, performed live on multiple radio and television shows including GLOBAL and CITY TV’s ‘Big Breakfast’. He has developed an incredible internet presence and following and was voted the 'Best New Artist of 2008' from the BCIMA’s, and received the ‘Best of the Best’ title from Okanagan Life Magazine.
In January of 2009, Andrew set off to record his latest ‘self titled’ EP at Mushroom Studios in Vancouver with producer Jeff Dawson (Daniel Powter, Kelly Rowland, State of Shock) which was released in March of 2009. This new EP earned him the invite to perform at JUNOFest 2009 in Vancouver and most recently allowed him to be featured on Virgin Radio’s ‘Best of BC’ artist profile as well as named the winner of "We are Listening's" international singer/songwriter competition and a finalist in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition.
With over 300,000 km on the tour van and a drive with the same mileage, this is one artist that you don’t want to miss!
That was a great set at the Supermarket in Toronto. A songwriting troubadour that matches mellow croons with acoustic-leaning rhythms, delivering good-times RnB-pop that justifies comparisons to Maroon 5, Jason Mraz, or Jack Johnson. Keep to your musical vision.
Hey Andrew, reaching out to say congrats on the BCIMA Awards! If I had to lose to someone... it wasn't so bad to lose to you! You're really awesome! Best of luck for continued success, Leah
Andrew, I just listened to your tunes again and I was reminded of how much I dig 'em. Wish I could make it to the BCIMAs. Hope to hear you in Nelson or Vancouver soon. Keep digging, man.
hey andrew. really enjoyed the tunes at the wedding the other night. both your cds are really good by the way. i listen to a lot of folk music so i didn't find the "roughness" in the first one a turn off at all. "start again" is one of my favs. well, hope we meet up again sometime. 'till then- peace be with you. greg
That was an amazing show at Faderfest, I was so impressed! You stole the show. It really inspired us to go and write some more acoustic stuff. Hopefully we'll see you in Brandon again sometime -Kurtis Gibson
