Andy Grammer is truly an engaging young talent who has shared the stage with Augustana, Emerson Drive, Josh Kelley, Tyrone Wells, and Jason Reeves on tons of college campus's and music festivals across the country. After landing a spot on the Chevrolet Stage at Summerfest in Milwaukee, (headliners John Mayer, Colbie Caillat) the Chevy Fuel Solutions Tour manager Ben Evans requested that Andy be picked up for the rest of the Chevy Tour. "Most of the artists we had on our stage this year we're unknown acts so the crowds were average. Andy came out with beat boxing, storytelling and catchy hooks and after his set there was a sizable crowd. I asked him that night if he wanted to come tour with us."
So Andy headed out on the road with Chevy playing large festivals such as Basilica Block Party in Minneapolis (Headliners One Republic, Augustana) Country Thunder in Twin Lakes Wisconsin (Headliners Jessica Simpson, Carrie Underwood) as well as the All State Brick Yard 400 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He has had recent shout outs by Dj's on Kiss Fm, and just got off a Nationwide College Tour hitting 24 colleges in 30 days all the way across the country. Hitting all high profile schools such as NYU, Villanova, University of Maryland, UNC, Emory, Rice University, University of Illinois, Colorado College, Univeristy of Texas, and UCLA to name a few.
With a John Mayer meets Maroon 5 meets beat boxing approach Andy is turning heads wherever he goes. "The common misconception that singer songwriter shows only involve sipping tea quietly and reminiscing about lost love is one I refuse to except. I think from the second I start beat boxing and mouth trumpeting its clear this going to be done a little differently :o)"
Q: What do you write your songs about.
A: I really like to write about anything as long as it's honest. I think any topic becomes awesome if you are brutally honest about it. Honesty sounds so good.
Q: Who do you get compared to?
A: I get a mix of the lead singer of Switchfoot and John Mayer and Jack Johnson and any other white guy with a guitar.
Q: What is your favorite song out right now?
A: I love "When your minds made up" from the ONCE soundtrack. If you haven't heard it your crazy. Hide and Seek by Imogen Heap is a close second.
Q: Random question whats your worst job ever?
A: McDonalds... hands down
Q: Best job ever?
A: Besides what i do now just playing music for a living, I would have to say Magic. Me and two friends in middle school used to perform magic at little kids birthday parties. "Three Teens Magic" We were a pretty big deal.
"Grammer wins the day with an uncompromisingly beautiful and 'right' collection of singer-songwriter gems." EARBUZZ.COM REVIEW
Hey Andy I'd love to help you promote yourself down here in San Diego. If you want to make a couple simple fliers of yourself I wouldn't mind coming to Santa Monica to pick them up. Take it easy buddy and keep it up
Hey Andy....the CD rocks and me and my pals played it to death on our USA roadtrip.
Do you have a song called "Pockets" or similar? I was sure you sung it when we heard you in Santa Monica and was a bit gutted to not have it on disc cos it was the BEST!
Can you put it up on myspace please...i hope you know what i'm warping on about.
