Antigonicat è un duo musicale formato da Claudio Amenta (autore delle musiche) e Ioanna Christoforou (cantante e autrice dei testi) nel 2006.
Claudio Amenta, bresciano, inizia giovanissimo lo studio del pianoforte classico, per proseguire poi il perfezionamento dello studio dello strumento prendendo lezioni di composizione, piano moderno e jazz. Da anni è membro di diverse formazioni, con le quali si è esibito in numerosi locali, festival e rassegne del nord e centro Italia. Contemporaneamente ha svolto attività di piano bar come solista e in duo.
Scrive musica e canzoni fin dall’adolescenza, ma è solo negli ultimi anni che questa attività inizia a prendere forma in maniera sempre più convincente.
Alla composizione di brani in italiano, di cui è autore per la parte musicale e letteraria (vincitore al Festival del Piave 2008), affianca la composizione di musiche per brani in lingua inglese per la voce di Ioanna Christoforou, autrice dei testi.
Ioanna Christoforou, greca di Atene, si trasferisce in Italia all’età di 19 anni per intraprendere gli studi di medicina. Adolescente, inizia a far parte di cori come voce soprano, con i quali intraprende tourneé che la portano in giro per tutto il Paese.
In Italia entra a far parte di un coro gospel e, successivamente, del prestigioso coro della Filarmonica di Brescia, al seguito del quale prende parte a prestigiosi concerti (come in occasione del festival Mozart a Rovereto).
Il duo inizia l’attività live, proponendo un repertorio leggero di canzoni italiane ed internazionali. Contemporaneamente ha inizio la collaborazione fra i due per la creazione di brani di genere pop-rock in lingua inglese, di cui Ioanna è autrice dei testi.
Nel 2008 gli Antigonicat firmano un contratto editoriale con la 1stPop Records di Verona.
Nel febbraio 2009 viene pubblicato il primo ep del gruppo, dal titolo "Muffins and cappuccino", contenente quattro brani, e messo in vendita su iTunes e i principali stores digitali.
Sempre nel febbraio 2009 sono invitati a Radio Rai 1 per prendere parte alla trasmissione "Demo" per uno speciale interamente dedicato a loro.
Nel marzo 2009 un loro brano, "Muffins and cappuccino", tratto dall'ep omonimo, entra a far parte della Compilation radio.it, cd selezionato dall'Associazione italiana deejay, con le migliori uscite discografiche di musica indipendente italiana.
Antigonicat propongono un pop-rock melodico e accattivante che trae ispirazione dalla tradizione del rock americano.

Antigonicat is a musical duo formed by Claudio Amenta (composer) and Ioanna Christoforou (singer and lyricist) in 2006.
Claudio Amenta, brescian, begins studying classical piano at a very young age, continuing to perfect this instrument studies by taking composition lessons, modern piano and jazz. For years he's a member of different groups, with which he's had concerts in numerous venues, festivals and manifestations of northern and central Italy. In the meantime he has been performing at piano bar nights both as a soloist and as a duo.
He writes music and songs since his teenage years but it's only in the last few years that this materializes into a substantial project.
Along with writing italian songs, both music and lyrics (winner at Festival del Piave 2008), he composes music for english songs interpreted by Ioanna Christoforou, author of the lyrics.
Ioanna Christoforou, a Greek from Athens, transfers in Italy when 19 years old to study medicine. While a teenager, she becomes a part of choirs as a soprano, with which she tours all over Greece.
In Italy she becomes a part of a gospel choir and, after that, a member of the prestigious choir of the Philharmonic of Brescia and followin that she participates in prestigious concerts (such as the Mozart festival of Rovereto).
The duo begins playing gigs, performing a variety of Italian and international songs. Along with that, they begin collaborating for the creation of pop-rock songs in english, the lyrics of which are written by Ioanna.
In 2008 Antigonicat sign a contract with 1stPop Records of Verona.Their first ep (Muffins and cappuccino) was published in february 2009 and it contained 4 songs, also available on the iTunes store and the principal digital stores.
At the same time they get invited by the national station Radio Rai 1 to participate at a special edition of the show "Demo" that was dedicated entirely to them.
In march 2009 Muffins and cappuccino song has been chosen from the Italian Deejay..s Association as a hit for the Compilation radio.it, as a sample of the best discografic indipendent music of Italy.
Antigonicat play a melodic yet energetic pop-rock, inspired by traditional American rock.
