BAND BIOGRAPHY
Born in Jerez de la Frontera, Anvil of Doom start their path in 2002, after several years of underground activity and line up changes in search of a solid basis. The band entered the studio and recorded their demo “Died Before Dawn”, which had a great success among their followers, and permitted Anvil of Doom to sign a deal with XTREEM MUSIC.
Through 2003, Anvil of Doom work in new material for their first album, while improving their live experience, playing through all Andalusia with local bands, and also sharing stage with Spanish legends as Barón Rojo, Sociedad Alkoholika or Avulsed. They also take part in the Xtreem Music Festival in Madrid, next to bands like Exodus, Nuclear Assault, Mortician, Grave and Occult.
In January 2004, the studio sessions for their first album, “DEATHILLUSION”, begin. It would include three re-recordings from the demo and six new songs which reflect a clear evolution to a more technical Death Metal, without leaving the band’s distinctive melodic touch. The album was released in October and received very good reviews in specialized media around the world.
After recording and mixing, the band gets back on the road, not only in Andalusia, but also beyond. Anvil of Doom have since then played next to bands like Pungent Stench, Fermento, Scarve, Arkhon Infaustus, Callenish Circle, Dismember, Sodom, Saxon, Annihilator, Blind Guardian or Kreator and have also headlined several fests including the I Andalusian Extreme Metal Fest and the Akople Rock, among others.
Anvil of Doom have appeared in many radio shows, magazines and e-zines, Spanish as well as foreign ones, and concert reviews in Heavy Rock Magazine and Kerrang!.
By early 2008, former vocalist and guitarist left the band, breaking the creative process leading to AOD's second album. After several tests and changes, they were finally replaced by guitarist John M. Peterson, the man behind the band PERSEIDAN, and M.G., frontman of the Sevillian act NETER.
Now AOD is up to the new Re(Tour)synthesis 2009 as well as preparing a new demo leading to a their second album.
