Hot off the heels of some amazing pre-release publicity, the Scottish rock duo Arab Strap return with The Last Romance due out February 21, 2006 on Transdreamer Records (home to Dressy Bessy, The Delgados). While it retains Arab Strap’s abrasive knack for vivid storytelling, The Last Romance spews out with a compelling melodic beauty. The North American version of The Last Romance contains bonus tracks and the first video for “Dream Sequence” will debut in January 2006. A full tour will commence in 2006.
Arab Strap created a stir in the indie music world when their debut single, “The First Big Weekend” was hailed by BBC’s Radio One as “the best record of the decade.” Although Arab Strap are firmly established in the alternative world, last year’s successful tour with Bright Eyes opened up a new audience for the band with some critics proclaiming Arab Strap’s “post-emo vision” real and palpable.
From the bittersweet “Stink” to the epic and triumphant ending of “There Is No Ending,” The Last Romance affirms Arab Stap’s status as uniquely gifted troubadours and maverick artists in an increasingly bleak landscape of reality stars. Well, there is nothing more real than Arab Strap telling the tales they live.
