The story of Ariadna Project began in Buenos Aires, Argentina in April 1999 when Rodrigo Gudiña (guitars) and Guillermo DeMedio (keyboards) met eachother and found out they had similar musical taste and influences. From that moment they become friends and after several gatherings in a spontaneous way they began to compose and record their first material which later would become "Parallel Worlds", first Ariadna Project's album, released in Argentina by the label Nems Enterprises.
By the end of 2000, the renowned Argentinean magazine Epopeya and the label Nems Enterprises opened a contest which aim was to select a song to be included in the soloist album of Adrián Barilari (Rata Blanca's vocalist) so Rodrigo and Guillermo decided to send their stuff under the name Ariadna Project. After several weeks of selection, due to the amount of material received, Ariadna Project's song "The Shadows Will Remain Behind" (also included in Parallel Worlds) became the winner. The song was recorded and mixed in Finnvox studios, Finland, by renowned international musicians such as: Jens Johansson (keyboards – Stratovarius, ex Yngwie Malmsteen) and the successful musicians from Nightwish: Emppu Vuorinen (guitars), Sami Vänskä (bass) and Jukka Nevalainen (drums). This version of the song has been already released in Europe by the label Drakkar, in Japan by Marquee – Avalon and in Latin America by Nems Enterprises.
After the releasing of Barilari’s album, the song by Ariadna Project “The Shadows Will Remain Behind” was selected as first single of the album and its video clip began to be broadcasted by the most important TV music channels in Argentina such as: Much Music, MTV and CM, which made the song the most known track of the album. Currently “The Shadows Will Remain Behind” video clip is broadcasted periodically by the entities named before and it is also included in the DVD named “Barilari En Vivo” released in Argentina by the label Icarus Music.
Seeing the great outcome of Barilari’s album and the song “The Shadows Will Remain Behind”, the label Nems Enterprises offered Ariadna Project to record, produce and market its first album. For such event the band’s line up was completed with: Javier Yuchechen (vocals), Alexis Espinosa (bass) and Pablo Garrocho (drums). Ariadna Project started the recording sessions at the studio “A” of La Nave de Oseberg recording studios, Buenos Aires, Argentina in June 2004 under the technical engineering of Martín Toledo (Rata Blanca, Tarja Turunen - Nightwish, Fabio Lione - Rhapsody), and the artistic production of Rodrigo Gudiña and Guillermo DeMedio. Finally in October 2005 "Mundos Paralelos" (spanish version of “Parallel Worlds”) was released to the Argentinean market, where it found on excellent response from the public and especialized press. The song "Aprendiendo a Creer" (“Learning to Believe”) was chosen as first single of the album, and it’s video clip began to be broadcasted in Argentina by the TV music channel CM.
In May 2005 Ariadna Project began its live performances, giving all its sound and musical skills on several stages in Buenos Aires. The band was well received by the audiences that, even without having the album released, knew its songs and sang them along with the band. Then Ariadna Project participated, as a request from the public, in two Nightwish Fan club’s Festivals counting with the presence of Tarja Turunen (Nightwish former singer) in one of them. Ariadna’s shows where praised by the people as well as by the media, whom in their comments remarked not only the strength of the songs but, its excellent and instrumental dexterity of its musicians as good alive as in the studio.
In July 2005, the album “A Tribute to the Priest”, a tribute to the legendary British band Judas Priest, released by Nems Enterprises hit the stores. Ariadna Project was part of this album with a version of “Heart of a Lion” next to well known international bands like: Hammerfall, Primal Fear, Therion, Iced Earth, Armored Saint and Silent Force among others. Such version stands out thanks to its interpretation where Ariadna Project’s style and personality is clearly recognized.
In the annual reader’s poll of 2005 in the Rock Brigade Magazine (Argentinean edition 3rd year, Nº 13), Ariadna Project reached the following positions:
• 1st Position – REVELATION BAND OF THE YEAR
• 2nd Position – ALBUM
• 2nd Position – KEYBOARD PLAYER
• 4th Position – ALBUM COVER
And got an special mention in the BAND category, where competed with the most popular bands of Argentina like Rata Blanca and Almafuerte.
After a proposal done by the record label, Ariadna Project decides to release the English version of the album: “Parallel Worlds”. This new version was recorded, mixed and mastered between July and September 2006, at La Nave de Oseberg recording studios and it will be available in Europe and Japan through the label Nems Enterprises.
Musicaly Ariadna Project counts with a wide range of influences that goes from Classical Music and Melodic Power Metal to Hard Rock and Progressive Metal, giving as main example bands such as: Yngwie Malmsteen, Stratovarius, Dream Theater, A. Vivaldi, J.S. Bach, Europe and Synphony X, among others, which ends on a different sounding combination and a presonal style that brings new horizons to the Argentinean metal scene.
