coffee, conversation, music (especially bluegrass), road trips, porches, reading, writing, good beer and damgoode pizza, sweet potatoes, gilmore girls, npr, yard sales, beads, collage... dreaming of opening a B&B...
Music
everything! I especially love bluegrass and late 70's/early 80's country, but I'm still a sucker for hair metal and quality pop. Hell, I'm a sucker for really crappy pop sometimes. I'm mostly a AAA kinda girl, being as I'm old and all... (If Paste Magazine likes it, its a safe bet I will, too!)
Movies
I like romantic comedies because my old roommate Gretchen doesn't like them. I like british movies because my new roommmate Heather doesn't like them. I like gen-x movies because my other roommate Candy doesn't seem to like those. Oh, and I like Before Sunrise/Sunset and Bride & Prejudice because they remind me of Angelika who abandoned me! (I'm not bitter...)
Television
We actually don't get any reception, but when I had tv I watched gilmore girls, lost, hgtv, style and tlc.
Books
yes ~ they're good ~ read them...
Heroes
everyone who made it through college and early career without going into debt... you guys rock...
Who I'd like to meet: Your Mom.
...other than that, I would love to sit on a porch with Victoria Williams & Mark Olson, Gillian Welch & David Rawlings, Katy Bowser & Kenny Hutson, Jolie Holland, all the girls from the Be Good Tanyas and all the boys from Old Crow Medicine Show ...I can't play any instruments, and I can't carry a tune in a bucket, but I would love to listen to all of them pick and sing ...I could serve them all sweet tea and make good conversation!
Ok ok does darrell play the dobro? If so I remember who you guys are! I am Dannys daughter. Its good to hear from younger adults whose family ties in with bluegrass
LOL! It is funny having a myspace page for the festival but Oh My Goodness it is such a blessing! I am 25 and this is my first year to help book & promote and MySpace is such a huge outlet for so many... so why the heck not ;-) How long has it been since you were at the show??
Big Head Todd at the Rev Room on Jan. 27th. Wanna be my date? You are the only other person I know that likes them. Well, Todd likes them too. Maybe he can be OUR date (Michelle doesn't care for them)
okay - so i thought about small places in europe - but i couldn't come up with anywhere "cool". but i think their choices in Ireland are pretty good. As long as they avoid the Ring of Kerry and other touristy places there! Due to the French being in France, I don't think I would recommand to go there ;)
I can personally guarantee an authentic table dance from Andrea that night...these techniques have been passed down through many generations of Alfords. It is going to be educational. I can't wait to see your face. That will be educational, as well.
thank you for my birthday package!!! i tried to tell you as much the other day, but it kept telling me there was an error every time i tried to "post a comment."
anyway, are you there, god? it's me margaret was definitely a big hit. i can't wait to read it again and rejoice at the fact that it's GRETCHEN who actually gets her period first!
and thomas thinks that he's super cool wearing the lr film festival tee. i should take of picture of that. he really walks around going, "yeah. . .my girlfriend was in a movie that played at this festival." and then he tosses his hair. oh, that guy!
I did think about the Buffalo last weekend and was hoping that you'll get a good co-pilot! No guys from Saudi this time? "You are old!" Bob, Madonna, Mailorder Farmer, ... good time were had last year ;)
I'll try to contact the zoo and get this mess sorted out. But, I am definitely going to that show no matter what. I've heard you talk about those two bands too much to not check it out at such an affordable price when they're right in my backyard.
thanks for the comment. it was hilariously taken in the bathroom of the bookstore i manage. it's the best lighting in town.
how are you?
if i were in arkansas or if you were in utah i'd take you out for coffee and garage sales and i would tell you all about the existstential muck and mire i've been swimming around in.
inevitably you would remind of the wonderful, amazing bits of everyday life, like you always do, and then things wouldn't seem so bad.
since you don't have good tv reception you probably haven't seen the new wendy's commercial? the one where they play "blister in the sun"? how can a song like that be on a commercial for food.
When and where did you meet Obama and Perkins?! Perkins is actually going to be in Portland in April, and I should definitely get to meet him. Looking forward to it.
I used to have Don Miller up there too, so I'm checking them off one by one. I just gotta stop missing Vienna Teng when she comes in town!
I would love to catch Katy Bowser, but it appears from her website that she is only visiting Oregon and not playing any shows (at least not publicized ones).
It's an honor to be missed by such a fine collection of housemates :o)
After the baby's born, we plan on dropping by the LR for a visit. My grandmother's not going to be around a whole lot longer, so we need to see her soon. We'll let you know when we're coming!
Hey, I just got a message from Glenhaven Candy, and she said she had a great time staying with you guys. She ALSO said that she loves Waking Life! We've got another Linklater devotee!
