Aroop Roy is an artist and producer of many dimensions.
His music celebrates a diverse range of influences whilst maintaining a unique touch. Elements of jazz, funk , afro and latin are combined with forward thinking beats and most importantly deep and soulful vibes.
As a singer and musician, he has shared the studio and stage with the likes of the Mizell Brothers and toured in Japan with Recloose.
His eclectic work as a producer has been supported worldwide by amongst others Gilles Peterson, Jazzanova, Laurent Garnier, Bugz In The Attic and Toshio Matsuura.
As a DJ and event organiser, he has taken Tokyo by storm and has a firm reputation as one of the most forward thinking people in the scene. His events absolute!!, Exposure and Culture have all enjoyed immense success whilst opening people's ears to a wider range of music than ever before.
In 2008, his compilation absolute!!:Sounds From Tokyo was released worldwide on Unique Uncut to critical acclaim and he was invited to do a guest mix on Gilles Peterson's legendary worldwide radio show.
He has performed in Japan and overseas with a host of artists and DJs including THEO PARRISH, KARIZMA, TOSHIO MATSUURA, GILLES PETERSON, KYOTO JAZZ MASSIVE, STEVE SPACEK, and joined RECLOOSE on his live tour of Japan as bass and guitar player.
Having recently signed to Freestyle records, his debut single 'Too Long' is out NOW and an album is due in summer 2009..
