Clint grew up in the Kansas City area and was introduced to music when he was told he could miss an hour of class every day by going to band rehearsal. Things turned serious after hearing recordings by Miles Davis and Clifford Brown late in high school. After graduating from Fort Hays State with a Bachelors of music in trumpet performance, Ashlock moved back to KC, where he recently finished studying with the legendary Bobby Watson at UMKC, playing in combos and in the award winning Concert Jazz Ensemble. Education-wise, he received a double masters degree in Jazz/Studio music and Composition from the UMKC Conservatory, and keeps busy playing around town as well as teaching at Johnson County Community College. Clint has appeared on stage with such personalities as James Carter, Clark Terry and the Temptations, among others.
