  • Bio

richie "asimilon" was introduced to psychedelic trance music in '95 by university friends who had been going to parties in goa and knew about the underground UK scene. shortly after he began collecting this music and quickly learned how to mix it, initially on vinyl and the occasional DAT tape and then eventually made the transition to CD, but from the very beginning there was a desire to produce this music as well... after many years of collecting studio equipment, he has mostly abandoned the hardware set-up in favour of the virtual studio environment, and more recently has been more active in collaborative adventures in psymmetrix and also with tron. richie came to meet the liquid connective in the early days at the exodus festival, and shortly after at a chilly october full moon party and has since been playing with them and helping organise the parties. he also been the "webmaster" of the liquid connective website since its' very inception! asimilons approach to music is that it doesn't have to fit in a particular genre so long as it is good music then boundaries should not be imposed... as far as psychedelic trance is concerned, his ideal is somewhere between crunchy-squelchy psychedelic-techno, and funky-ass-shaking-bass morning music with melodic overtones... he is definately not a fan of la-di-da day-time trance though! his belief overall is that the music should do the talking, for it is almost impossible to attach words to an art-form that is beyond them! the chill-out face of asimilon ranges from an entirely live entirely experi-mental zero bpm hour long set to an eclectic psychedelic chill-out live set that touches almost every aspect of psy-chill, but without going down the "ethnic" road... his rare chill-out dj sets can best be described as "wonky"... some unusual names getting a look in such as mouse on mars, neon-don, rot, debashish bhattacharya & bob brozman and occasionally some of the more usual suspects...
