The band originally formed in February 2007 as a group of friends who shared a mutual passion for live music. Shortly after forming, they were approached by Sarah Covey, a close friend, to play backing for her in the national competition ’Live and unsigned-South Coast Idol’, the band jumped at the chance at playing together for an audience, and accepted the challenge. After their first performance in the semi-final in Bath it became obvious that the band had a special bond, winning a place in the Regional Final, leaving the crowd screaming for more. With this, Sarah was asked to join the band as the permanent vocalist. From then they were to become known as Aspheric.
After winning the Regional Finals, the band found themselves in the National Grand Final playing in front of 2000 people at the Guildhall in Portsmouth, after only 2 performances together.
Since then the band have played gigs in local venues playing Pop/Rock covers, continuously adding to their ever expanding, impressive, wide ranging repertoire.
With Dan George’s smooth flowing, solid basslines and Zack Mabberley’s hard hitting drum beats, aspheric demonstrate a strong rhythm section. When twinned with Sarah Dean’s scorching hot solos influenced by traditional and contemporary blues, and Sam Kitchener’s powerful rock style and piercing harmonics, it creates an extremely talented and musically diverse band. This is all topped off by the versatile and extensive vocal range of Sarah Covey, demonstrating outstanding dynamics and great audience rapport.
With all this in mind Aspheric are a must see live covers band suitable for all venues.
