Astral Winter was formed as an epic melodic black metal project by Josh Young in 2008. During that time several songs were writen and earlier recordings were uploaded to myspace receiving a great response by fans.
In 2009 the search for a vocalist began for a means to fully complete the sound of Astral Winter. This is when Phil Hemsworth joined the band as the vocalist making it no longer a solo project. A demo of "Illustrations Of Death" was the first track recorded with vocals and revamped instruments, which gave Astral Winter that extra sound it was missing.
In July of 2009 Josh and Phil got to work on recording their first release, Illustrations Of Death (EP/Demo) The CD featured 22minutes of epic Astral Winter metal. The EP/Demo was released on 9/8/2009 on their self run label Immortal Frost Productions.
The future plans of Astral Winter are to start recording their first album titled "Winter Enthroned" which has already been fully writen and has an approximate running time of 52 minutes.
Astral Winter currently remains as a project band without live performances.

Our's has pretty much had to be re-started from scratch. Nathan wanted to redo his drums (for some unknown reason) so we've gotta redo the guitars and bass. I've got a bloke coming in after New Year's, he's going to lay down some violin for us. And a mate of mine is going to play some jimbay (african drum) on some of the tracks too. Now if only we can find a flute player and an accordion player haha.
Dude, that tone is pretty cool, I might use it for some recordings soon. Credit you of course. I'll wait until I get metalshop before we decide. Seeings as its not as costly as I first thought. How are the Hammerstorm tunes coming along?
Ah I'm sure I'll get it in the end. Or I'll just bid on a Boss HM-2 on ebay in hopes I win it. Or a Boss MT-2. Cos I know they use one of those two pedals. And then I'll just fuck with the settings on my VOX amp
