It has been a long time since we don't say a word, this was due to our dear friend and drummer, “The Book” had an accident that left him unable to play the drums.
“The Book” was shot in the legs in mid-February, but now he’s completely recovered. As it was expected that paralyzes our activity both, in shows and in the recording of the disc, which has been postponed without a date confirmed.
But the good news is that we will return to the stage in “True Pagan Fest III” this June 20 along with Morbid Angel, Virus Belico, Celula among other guatemalans groups.
We will return with power to prove that Atrophy is alive!

Atrophy was born in Guatemala in late 2007, Boris and "The Book" decide to revive the Guatemalan grindcore and after months of searching, the band complete the shrill sound that is characterized, by adding the ex-Mutilation's: Bernabe and Constrictor.
In May 2008, the band launches the Split/Demo/Rehearsal with Eterno Impeler, from which we get the four songs call:
- Ages of Terror
- Constitutional Rights
- Vomiting A.R (Against Repression)
- Extermination
With the recording of the Split/Demo/Rehearsal Atrophy is cataloged as one of the few grindcore bands that have existed in Guatemala.
