I directly owe my start in electronic music to two people - Jeff Taylor Cross, who used to write as Ultraviolet Catastrophe and Sinistar for giving me my first sampler and introducing me to a lot of great music, and to Miguel Fiero, Single Cell Orchestra, for his support and encouragement when I got started, and friendship in the years after - and explaining to me exactly what a sequecer did. West Coast Electro represent! Shouts out to Volsoc (RIP), Carl Finlow, JimG, Raf One, Shane Knapp, :code, Impulse... those that were there - you know what's what, what was then, and what is now gone.

   About Audioelectronic

Best known for his live electro project Cybrid, with releases on Belief Systems and Exact Science, Gustavo Lanzas brings his love of Electro, Acidhouse, Jack Trax, and Detroit-influenced Techno to the mix.

Drawing from 15+ years of experience as a producer, and an appreciation for the dancefloor classics, audioelectronic is a musical experiment to get back to the roots of electronic dance music. Favoring hardware drum machines and samplers, Gustavo blends rhythms, basslines, and synthetic melodies into a danceable mix. Retro music for the dancefloors of the future.

"...Known for his diverse and danceable sets, SF's Audioelectronic, aka Gustavo Lanzas, is also an accomplished DJ. Playing everything from dubbed-up disco cut-ups, 80's hits, driving electro, to dark industrial anthems his sets entertain and keep booties on the floor."

"...To be honest, I much prefer time travel (or mind travel, if you will) to air travel, and the March 18 installment of Club Activ at SoMa's Shadow Lounge was just the, er, ticket. AudioElectronic set the pace with a laptop DJ set of old-schoolish Electronic Body Music and electrofunk, punctuated with his own huffs and hisses, and Activ resident TeflonJacket segued nicely into sets by Bunker Records' guests Speculator and Danny Wolfers, a.k.a. Legowelt, who provided just the 88-mph oomph the flux capacitor needed to send the room back to 1983. Nu Romantic guys in ties, vests, and wingtips; girls heavily made up with hacked-off asymmetrical cuts; Giorgio Moroder-esque synths whirring and popping like rubber bands stretched to their limits Ð it was like Liquid Sky but without the space aliens and rampant drug consumption, and it was just what I craved. But it was even more on point when the trashy '80s loyalists broke dance-floor bread with a few preppy girls and a lone gent who I believe had just arrived from delivering pizzas Ð pseudo-Domino's uniform and all.

- Ken Taylor, SF Weekly

Yo Gussie - I'm taking a little break from music while my cd, Last Unforetold Man, is getting mixed and mastered and am working on an edition of prints, "a thousand colors made from tears," which you can see more of, along with all kinds of great art and music stuff at Sun Pop Blue.

And of course you can hear some transitional guide mixes from the cd on my myspace page. p.s. i will come up to portland and show you how it's done. -Knox

heehee :-) I prefer to look glamourous while plotting evil deeds. It tends to throw people off if you look pretty while you're being evil.....mwahahhhaha!

The FUNNIEST thing about performance art is that SOME people DON'T have to be tricked into watching it.

They actually like it.

Hehe.

writhing with the worms, buried in the slop, pinned to the rocks, chained up and broken, slathered in bad liquid, covered in filth, beaten down, corroded, blown, blasted...

only one thing kept the pony alive in that dark hour. a thought, a dream, a mantra murmured over and over: Audioelectronic.
