“Occupying gossamer space somewhere between Shannon Wright and Cat Power – with near-folksy phrasing that could pass for the soft-spoken younger sister of Sandy Denny – Autumn Grieve’s impressive new EP ”Another Window”, was recorded with Christian Frederickson of Quarterstick act the Rachel’s. The introspective, placid short-player features cellist David Cho of the Memphis Symphony Orchestra”…
"...Her debut EP "Another Window" is a lushly lo-fi, evocative set of originals that fans of Shannon Wright and Jeff Buckley will warm up to.”.…"gentle, intelligent folk music."
Bill Ellis, The Commercial Appeal, Memphis, TN.
“The opening track “Sea Maiden’s Daughter” begins with a drag of cello and sets the tone for the e.p. as gentle, featherlight guitar threads through the song, complementing Grieve’s wisps of vocals. It’s a pastoral feel which builds into a gentle apex of flowing strings, that draws the track beyond its lulling introduction, but never beyond a point of total release. The second track “Hold the Light” is more heavily structured, acoustic guitars being more forceful, accompanied by a gentle mandolin that evokes a very 60’s era British folk feel, the song benefiting from the alternating use of cello and viola in subsequent verses. The final track “Shine” floats gently and benefits from raw recording techniques and the beautiful cello work of David Cho. It’s a tone that’s intense and rich in texture.”

Earth, Nature and Beauty, folklore, the Divine Feminine, the cycles of life and death, light and shadow... here's where the songs begin. Musical influences range from the folk traditions of many cultures, to My Bloody Valentine, Dead Can Dance, 14th century French troubadours, Tim and Jeff Buckley, Leonard Cohen, Mark Hollis, grunge, Wil Oldham, prog rock, Kate Bush, mantras, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Red House Painters, folk psychedelia, most areas of music history, Meredith Monk, and ever so many more.

musicians collaborated, like R. Coutinho, B. Ardo (Sangre Cavallum), Rui
Almeida (Massa Última), Triarca, Mara Neves and M.J.
Not only a reaction against the modern world, but
an alternative to this post-modern world.
yes, indeed! Lost and found. Merry meet! It is wonderful that you are here and share your great gifts which delight. Blessings and a pinch of starlight... Anne
I bought Stray Birds a few months back... just wanted to say I love your music and keep up the good work. Whatever you put out in the future I'll make sure I purchase.
"...it’s like Kid Strange and Urban Blitz from the Doctors of Madness at
their most morose played Overhang Party, or a mogadon’d Peter Hammill
jamming with Van Der Graaf’s Graham Smith. Elsewhere, the singular
desolation is most reminiscent of the most down down moments of Nico’s
THE MARBLE INDEX or even of Jesse Colin Young’s The Youngbloods at
their most mercurial. But the Scrapes are still so original their music
ultimately don’t sound like nobody but themselves." Julian Cope
I'm sitting at Oxygen right now - listening to your music - if I close my eyes I can imagine you sitting here too. My friend came in and sat with me yesterday, she was wearing patchouli...
"Also hugely enjoyable, highly original AND psychically useful is the
music of Australian duo The Scrapes, whose fiery epic guitar and
abandoned Mithraic fiddle pieces evoke images of lost Keltic lands
inundated by the oceans, lost Iberian & Armorican sea peoples and
lost times from beyond the beyond." Julian Cope
