Bio
AUTUMN'S END BIO 2010 Seasons change. It is as inevitable as the rise and fall of the tide, the wax and wane of the moon; change is the engine with which nature drives the world. And of all the seasons, only AUTUMN'S END changes ever for the better, immutable in its purpose despite or because of the change, embracing each metamorphosis with a single minded determination concerned only with delivering the harsh climate and malefic beauty that follows in the wake of AUTUMN'S END. Arizona's most sincere purveyors of melody and Metal menace are certainly no strangers to change; vocalist/guitarist Chris Cannella and bassist El are now the last bastion of the devoted dream that began AUTUMN'S END with four malicious minded musicians sharing a kindred calling to create. Years of commitment to the cause wielded two landmark releases that defined and molded Arizona's desiccated Metalscape: 2004's self-titled LP and the indomitable monolith "Act Of Attrition", along with countless triumphs upon the stage. A dream of forging unique, crafty melodic Metal had been realized with results that were greater than their collective dreaming mind could have hoped; momentum was building swiftly and AUTUMN'S END held the world itself within its sights. But the will of change dictates all, and soon change cast its unpredictable world-shifting eye upon the road they walked; and as always, with change's duty done, little remained as it was. The savage intensity of change's first strike came on January 27th, 2007 with a motorcycle accident that nearly killed drummer and band brother Joey Kamka. The band's will, resolve and tenacity were challenged thoroughly throughout Joey's miraculous medical recovery and his effort to return to drums and stage, but despite the band's undying closeness, this change had irrevocably shifted the AUTUMN'S END landscape, leaving their brother Joey forever severed from the bond and mindset that was the vital essence of the band. Realizing that things could never return to familiar ways and aware that something had to give, the band faced the most difficult decision of their career, and for the greater good of all involved, Joey was dismissed. And so began the painstaking, meticulous process of filling the considerable void left in Joey's absence, a task compounded by the need for not only dynamic drumming proficiency, but a like-minded, level-headed individual to mesh seamlessly with all aspects the AUTUMN'S END family. Enter Chilean born Harry Ferrer (ex LUNATICS VISION), a diverse drum merchant adept in Jazz, Prog, Latin, and Death Metal, who learned of the recently vacated drum throne and stepped up to fill in for a few of the band's upcoming shows; and, after just two rehearsals, AUTUMN'S END once more returned to rule the stage. In both style and personality, Harry was a polar opposite to Joey Kamka, making for unfamiliar territory ; however, after collaborating on just one song the entire group clicked on a primal level and soon they had anointed a new king to the AUTUMN'S END drum throne. Indeed, Harry delivered in such resounding fashion that all drum material previously penned for the upcoming third album were scrapped and rewritten with his technical expertise and finesse. Meanwhile, for nearly two years Chris Cannella and El had been acutely aware of guitarist Anthony DeJesus' ever-increasing yearning to pursue other avenues, specifically a position as guitarist for fellow Arizona Metal mainstays BACK FROM ASHES. Despite his undying loyalty to AUTUMN'S END, Anthony himself conceded that he "…never felt that [he] held AUTUMN'S END back, but definitely slowed it down". Though not in specific agreement, the rest of the band could not argue that Anthony's style and passions would be better served pursuing this new avenue, a move that would ultimately be in the best interest of AUTUMN'S END as well. Forever a brother and life-long member of the band, Anthony departed and again the need arose for metamorphosis and a new period of growth ensued. The winds of change had again scattered the leaves of AUTUMN'S END, albeit with a much less difficult and violent wind, but still Chris Cannella and company were left standing again incomplete in a windswept hollow of AUTUMN'S END. Yet with change and its test of endurance comes determination and the will to persevere, and perseverance is what AUTUMN'S END knows best. Every bit as daunting as the task of replacing Joey, the hunt for Anthony's successor yielded a plethora of interested individuals, some of exceptionally established Metal status, but the AUTUMN'S END vision has ever been of the utmost importance, and that vision would not – could not – stand for compromise. In the thick of it all, guitarist and Arizona Metal veteran Steve Jasinski (ex-EROTICIDE) placed a well-timed phone call to Chris Cannella regarding the vacant slot. Hailing back to the days of Cannella's nefarious adventures in N17 circa 1994, Steve was a man familiar to the band in both personality and musicianship, and in his first audition proceeded to nail the majority of Ant's guitar parts. Following this serendipitous melding of musicianship Cannella, El and Harry quickly realized how well Steve also complemented the cooperative, supportive and familial standards that defined AUTUMN'S END. And thus, trials and tribulations endured and overcome, a new and even more lethal incarnation took form. With the missing components now in place and the winds of change finally blowing their fickle course elsewhere, the time has come for AUTUMN'S END to ascend to the next level, to usher in a new season of domination, of mastery, of strength. And in spite of the change, for AUTUMN'S END all is business as usual, and with the advent of the new album will come a reinforcement of that which should already be known: when it comes to defining the savage beauty of perfectly melded melody and malice, the road to knowing begins with AUTUMN'S END.<br> METALEATER.com Contact info: Rev. "Put simply, "Act of Attrition" is one cool extreme metal album and proof that there are still a few worthy acts lurking in the U.S." .. .. ..RockMyMonkey.com – 8 out of 10.. "Act of Attrition by Autumn's End is a brilliant album. It is only a matter of time before these guys blow up in the scene." .. .. ..Obliveon.net – 9.5 out of 10.. Review is in German. .. .. ..Deadtide.com.. This album will easily appeal to anyone into thrash, melodic death metal, technical death metal, and even brutal death. This is some really good shit, plain and simple. .. .. ..Apeshit.org.. This is easily one of the top bands to watch as 2006 winds down, and AUTUMN'S END should be headlining their own U.S. tours in the not-so-distant future if they keep up this kind of effort. .. .. ..Zia Zine Issue November 2006.. "If you're a metal-loving maniac but you're not into fashion-centric kiddy-metal bands who weren't even alive when metal was as its peak in the 80's, Autumn's End is the bloodcurdling cure." .. .. ..Maelstrom.com.. "(Act of Attrition) combines a Satanic, black metal mentality with a more moderate musical style: some harmonized singing, slow, melodic guitar lines and down-tempo drumming fall among the harder portions. .. .. ..Reviews - S/T.. .. .. ..Metaleater.com – 8 out of 10.. AUTUMN'S END may just be the penultimate American counter-response to the wave of brilliance flowing out of Sweden in the form of OPETH and others. Diverse, effective, driving, energized, dominating and enthralling, AUTUMN'S END embody the greatest aspects of American Metal and have spliced them in a collage of succinct brutality, thick and meaty rhythms, melodic tendencies and resonant acoustic beauty, resulting in a sound that is both instantly distinct and uncompromisingly compelling. .. .. ..DefendersofSteel.net – 7 out of 10.. Review is in Italian. .. .. ..HardandHeavy.org – 4 out of 5.. Review is in Italian. .. .. ..Phoenix New Times.. The most promising band in the local metal scene. Autumn's End keeps it dark and heavy, and pretty much exemplifies Arizona metal: shredding guitars and growling guys in black cowboy hats. Autumn's End is a must for fans of Black Dahlia Murder and Lamb of God. .. .. ..Crave Magazine.. This album is better than a lot of mainstream music out there. I think a lot of people could really get behind this album and support this band. .. .. Our music collections which is so broad amongst all of us it would be just ridiculous to mention everything that has influnced us. All good music has true attitude and is from the depths of every creavtive musician. It doesnt matter how popular it is, if it doesnt have true attitude then it is crap! -
