Bio:

-The Avery Dylan Project (“ADP”), is based out of Athens, Georgia which is home to over 2,000 bands. It is no surprise that the traveling ADP has risen above many of the mainstream bands in their home town due to the extraordinary talent, dedication, and determination of the band. There is just something that comes out when these guys get together. They have performed over one hundred shows together culminating at the Billy Bow Legs festival with an audience over 10,000 strong. All members are good natured, easy going, and hard working individuals with fantastic senses of humor that comes across vividly to the audience. You're sure to find them anywhere in the south and they are currently expanding their territory. Micheal Allman, Barry Richman, John Straw, Tommy Talton, Tony Tyler are a few of the top name musicians that have found their way to the stage to sit in with ADP. And each member has played on stage with hundreds of professionals. Booking is done by the band members and/or through Sweet Notes Management at the moment. The Avery Dylan Project is currently working on material for the new album which is anticipated to be released in the summer of 2009.

Their music consists of a large number of original compositions interspersed with covers of some of the greats like Stevie Ray Vaughan, Robert Cray, Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, and BB King. The power and chemistry among the group must be seen to be believed, not to mention some of the jaw dropping guitar tricks. All three of the band members have dedicated their lives to music and have lived the lives of true musicians with all the attendant ups and downs, heartaches and good times. They have also all been on the road, recorded, and performed in their musical careers. The band has a lot of inspiration, energy, talent, desire, and professionalism.

About the band members:
-Avery Dylan was born in South Carolina, but was raised in North Carolina and Virginia. He's been performing music for over 20 years, since the age of 7. He was a founding member of a number of bands (Basement Blues Band, Haze, Dylan Blues Project, & more) and played with a few other bands in Virginia areas (Medicine Jar, College Boy and the Townies, Sonic Leon & more). His various bands were playing up and down the east coast when he decided to move to Athens, Georgia for more career opportunities. He joined a number of bands in Athens (Cadillac Johnson, Petey Wheatstraw, DBP & more) but finally decided to do his own music in 2007. This was the start of the Avery Dylan Project. Avery Dylan's musical influences are Stevie Ray & Jimmy Vaughan, Albert Collins, Jimi Hendrix, BB King, Billy Gibbons, Buddy Guy, Robert Cray, Warren Haynes, and many many others. There are still other projects that you can find Avery in. Avery Dylan uses Fender amplifiers ('72 Bandmaster, '74 moded Twin Reverb, and early 90's moded Super 4*10) and Fender Strats (mainly his custom Sunburst Strat), Peavey JF1-EX HollowBody (SWEET), Ernie Ball strings, and his pedals consisting of Ibanez Tube Screamers (two custom), Dunlop Crybaby & Roto Vibe, Boss (Over Drive, Chorus Ensamble, Delay), DOD Compression, MXR Phaser, DigiTech, and a few other modified pedals.

"One of the more impressive acts we were able to catch at Eco-Music-Fest 2008 was the Avery Dylan Project from Athens, GA. Joined by bassist Clint Swords and drummer Mike Strickland, Avery Dylan, as one of the fellows in the crowd told me "isn't Stevie Ray Vaughan-nobody is...but he's as close as you are going to find playing around here on a regular basis". Dylan has a style of his own but you can definitely see the SRV/Blues influence in his playing.
The ADP mixed some nice original songs in with some covers of blues legends like Albert Collins during their set at the Eco-Fest. The most telling indicator of the band's quality was the number of other musicians at the show who stopped what they were doing to come over and watch them play. The ADP has dates in Florida, Macon, Athens and metro Atlanta coming up in June. Let's hope we can get them back up in the mountains real soon.
