About AzazeL - ne zovite nas da sviramo, samo da jedemo

Bend su osnovali Djordje i Dragan, sa drugarima iz kraja, Andrijom, Mirkom i Vladom i to 20. decembra 1996. godine (datum predstavlja prvu studijsku probu) u Beogradu i dali mu ime Azazel (inspirisani romanom Srdjana Krstica: Mefisto i Zlatokosa). Prvobitna ideja je bila da se sviraju pesme omiljenih bendova Iron Maiden, Metallica, Motorhead, Sex Pistols i drugih, ali ubrzo kroz eksperimentisanje pravi i svoje prve autorske stvari (na srpskom i engleskom) kada i pocinje svoje zive nastupe po Beogradu. Posle promene ljudstva u bendu, postalo je jasno da se bend krece striktno metal pravcem, a od februara 1998. bend nastupa u sadasnjoj postavi.
Prvi nastup smo imali kao srednjoskolci, na svirci gimnazijskih bendova organizovanih u cast proslave mature tadasnje generacije ‘78. u III beogradskoj gimnaziji medju desetak bendova raznih muzickih pravaca, a do sada smo po Beogradu svirali u vise navrata, u svojim pocecima u klubu SKC-a nebrojeno puta, Grafickoj skoli i dva puta u Tehnickoj skoli "Petar Drapsin", zatim klub Doma Omladine, klub i basta KST i klub Fili. Upamtili smo i dva nama veoma posebna nastupa, leta 2002.god. na splavu Boomerang na Savi u novobeogradskom bloku 44, kao i ucesce na Hard rock & Heavy metal festu u Barutani, zajedno sa jos desetak bendova i Kraljevskim apartmanom. Gostovali smo i na Hitu nedelje Radija 202, takodje u Beogradu u klubu Doma Omladine.
Od nastupa van Beograda navescemo svirke u NS Riders Club-u (Dvoriste), klubu London Underground i zivi nastup u TV emisiji DemoNStration na TV Panonija u Novom Sadu. Zatim tu su ucesce na Hellhammer festivalu u Pancevu 2003. godine kao i gostovanja u Jagodini, Zrenjaninu, Somboru, Adi, Molu i Kragujevcu.
Sto se tice nasih prvih uticaja i neke osnove naseg sadasnjeg zvuka, istakli bi Slayer, Sepulturu, Kreator, Death i Atheist.
Demo Azazel, je snimljen krajem septembra 2002. god. i izmiksovan za tri dana uz veliku pomoc Djure i Bareta (clanovi nekadasnjeg domaceg metal-core benda Svarog) i to u Baretovom studiju Barewire u Zemunu.
Avgusta 2004 su snimljene i ostale pesme koje ce kompletirati ceo album pod imenom Na-amah. Nazalost bend je tek sest meseci kasnije usled nemogucnosti postizanja pravednog dogovora sa nekom od domacih i stranih izdavackih kuca, odlucio da samostalno izda i promovise ovo ostvarenje tako da je moguce nabaviti ga u muzickim prodavnicama (metal-shops) kao i naruciti ga direktno preko zvanicnog emaila benda. Azazel snima novi demo-singl i radi na ostalim novim pesmama za drugi album.

The band is from Belgrade, Serbia. It was formed originaly as 'Azazel' in December 1996, inspired by one of the characters in the novel 'Mefisto i Zlatokosa (eng. Mephisto and Goldielocks), written by Serbian novelist Srdjan Krstic.
As a precise date, 20th of December was chosen, which represents band's first 'serious' studio rehearsal. Azazel was formed by highschool and neighbourhood mates, Djordje, Dragan, Mirko, Andrija and Vlada. They wanted to cover and play their favourite bands' songs. Few months later, they are joined by Dejan as a drummer and Filip as guitarist, respectively, replacing Vlada and Mirko.
In this lineup the band played for about a year on numerous gigs in Belgrade's clubs and highshool gigs (one of those also being their first gig ever as a band), playing mostly their own songs and some of covers, like Metallica, Motorhead, Sepultura and Sex Pistols. In the beggining of 1998, Marko joined the band as a guitar player, replacing Andrija who had different ideas and decided to form his own band afterwards.
New songs were written and there was one recording session in February 1998 which didn't result as expected so this first demo never saw the light of day, officialy. New covers by bands such as Death, Slayer and Kreator were quickly added to the playlist. During 2000-2003 the band 'suffered' with all of the members having to serve mandatory military service. This caused breaks in the work of the band but somewhere in the middle of that period, in fall 2002, the band gathered enough money to record their first demo in a professional studio. It contained four songs which are also available for download on their official site. After many gigs, that followed, in fall 2004 the band had another three day recording session where we recorded eight more songs that would complete our first album called Na-amah.
The bands that influenced our work are Slayer, Sepultura, Kreator, Death and Atheist.
Currently, Azazel is self-financing the recording of a new single-demo and also creating more new songs that would make their second album, release still to be announced...
