THE ARIZONA BUFFALO SOLDIERS MOTORCYCLE RIDERS CLUB WAS ON DUTY MEMORIAL DAY.
TROOPERS; PREZ CHAZ, HENRY ALI, SNAKE LACEY, SARGE YORK & CAPTAIN SLICK REED. WE PAID TRIBUTE TO BUFFALO SOLDIER AND MEDAL OF HONOR RECIPIENT " ISAIAH MAYS",
FLAGS WERE DISPLAYED AND POSTED BY US AT THE GRAVE SITE. THE GRAVE SITE CANNOT BE ACCESSED BY THE PUBLIC BECAUSE THE GRAVE SITE IS ON ARIZONA STATE HOSPITAL PRISON GROUNDS. OUR PRIMARY GOAL IS TO FIND A FINAL RESTING PLACE FOR "ISAIAH MAYS", A 24TH INFANTRY BUFFALO SOLDIER WHO RECEIVED THE "THE CONGRESSIONAL METAL OF HONOR" FOR BRAVERY ON MAY 11, 1889-ARIZONA TERRITORY.
WHERE TROOPER MAYS IS BURIED AT THIS TIME IS AN ISOLATED SMALL CEMETERY NEAR 24TH STREET AND VAN BUREN STREET IN PHOENIX, ARIZONA. AT THE OLD STATE HOSPITAL..
MAJOR WILLIAM CURTIS A 9TH CALVARY MEMBER AND HIS GROUP WAS ACTIVELY INVOLVED IN GETTING MAYS AN ARLINGTON STYLE HEAD STONE.
THE PROBLEM NOW IS THAT THE PRESENT GRAVE SITE IS GOING TO BE EXCAVATED FOR NEW BUILDINGS.
WE MUST ASSURE THAT MAYS HEAD STONE IS REPOSITIONED AT A MILITARY GRAVE SITE IN ARIZONA OR AT THE ARLINGTON CEMETERY IN VIRGINIA.
NOTE; MAYS WAS BURIED WITH 2400 OTHERS IN UNMARKED GRAVES AT THIS SITE. THE RECORDS WERE DESTROYED IN A HOSPITAL FIRE YEARS AGO.

Who I'd like to meet: When Congress reorganized the peacetime regular army in the summer of 1866, it had taken the above situation into account. It also recognized the military merits of black soldiers by authorizing two segregated regiments of black cavalry, the Ninth United States Cavalry and the Tenth United States Cavalry and the 24th, 25th , 38th , 39th, 40th and 41st Infantry Regiments. Orders were given to transfer the troops to the western war arena, where they would join the army's fight with the Indians.
Buffalo Soldiers is a nickname originally applied to the members of the U.S. 10th Cavalry Regiment of the United States Army by the Native American tribes they fought.
Which was formed on September 21, 1866 at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
The term eventually encompassed these units:
U.S. 9th Cavalry Regiment
U.S. 10th Cavalry Regiment
24th Infantry Regiment
25th Infantry Regiment
Although several African American regiments were raised during the Civil War to fight alongside the Union Army (including the famous 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry and the many United States Colored Troops Regiments),
The "Buffalo Soldiers" were established by Congress as the first peacetime all-black regiments in the regular U.S. Army.
Mark Matthews on September 6, 2005, , who was the oldest living Buffalo Soldier, died at the age of 111.
He was buried at Arlington National Cemetery
A history channel documentary I found. This is part 1. I think this is about 10 years old. These documetaries are important no matter where they come from. Much love and repect to our native american brothers. We love y'all.
This is why I always said Arizona and New Mexico should have been set aside for black and native american settlement.
The regiment distinguished itself in Cuba at Santiago and Las Guasimas, and in the famous charge up San Juan Hill. What most people do not know is that the brunt of the fighting was borne by the soldiers of the 9th and 10th Cavalry Regiments. One eyewitness has written: "If it had not been for the Negro Cavalry, the Rough Riders would have been exterminated. The 10th Cavalry fought for 48 hours under fire from Spaniards who were in brick forts on the hill.
The last episode of the documetary.
I personally learned alot form this show. for example the part about the buffalo soldiers marching 100 miles in one day to rescue the 7th calvary from the sioux before the little big horn?. What a story!
I hope you enjoyed this program as much as I did.
