Well, can’t say these are real influences, but some of these bands and people inspired us back in time, and some of them always will, so they probably do influence us in some way, and here they are: the Beatles, the Doors, Nirvana, the Cure, Johnny Cash, Muddy Waters, Pink Floyd, U2, Sex Pistols, Simple Minds, David Bowie, Pantera, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, Nine Inch Nails, Alice in Chains, Slayer, Sepultura, Soulfly, Metallica, Blur, dEUS, Oasis, Soundgarden, Rage Against The Machine, Tool, Deep Purple, Faith no More, Jim Jarmusch, Coen brothers, Kubrik, David Lynch etc...
Backflow could be described as a "garage band", if that means writing catchy tunes with great hooks, and giving raw, powerful performances as musicians. In their music you will surely notice the influence of the '90s Seattle music scene, but mainly you'll hear Backflow's unique and original style that takes a fresh approach to today's new generation of rock music. Backflow has successfully taken grunge out of the '90s and given it their own unique and distinct 21st century twist.
In April 2008, Backflow released its debut album "Love&Peace".Their songs speak to the ageless search for one's identity and place in the world, for God, for love and peace. Backflow has incorporated their own insights and understanding into this LP, and as surely as you have a heartbeat, you will be able to take something from their music and make it your own.
Backflow was born January 1, 2007 in Riga, Latvia, reinventing itself from the members' previous popular and critically-acclaimed band, Mary Jane. From 1996 to 2007, Mary Jane compiled a long list of awards and was frequently called "one of the best live acts in Latvia". In 2005, Mary Jane's only full-length release, "Lost Innocence Vast Ego" was nominated for Best Rock Album of the year at the Latvian Music Awards.
Backflow has kept the finest musical traditions of Mary Jane, while its members' musical lives have evolved into an even closer, more tightly-knit unit. They have already taken part at several major European music festivals and it comes as no surprise that the fans and critics alike are once again saying that this talented group of musicians is a great live concert band.
