Bad Omen is 18 at 2007! Bad Omen was the brain child or spawn to be more apt, of Fishbone and Ramir within the walls of U.E. in 1989. The first years saw Bad Omen spending time exploring and practicing punk music in places like Mang Kando’s rehearsal studio in the suburbs of San Juan. 1991 was the year Bad Omen had its first gig in Red Rocks (later transformed and died into Club Dredd) Timog together with the Philippine Violators. Rheetyard Ortiz on drums and Ricky Quicho on bass were part of the band then. 1994 was the year when they released their first album where Willie Bunao handled vocals. A number of changes among its band members did not stop Bad Omen from playing the music it loves. In fact, Bad Omen was mostly seen as a 3-piece band. Sell Out, the 2nd album, was proof of this. Ab of Dear Dingo was the vocalist during this time. From here, They’re Back! followed suit; expanding their number to five. Bumpy Joe, Lino Nueva and Randy Badiola, all from No Pressure, became part of the band with Melo Cabiling of TBC completing the line up.
Currently working on its fourth album, Bad Omen is Tristan (Detallitia, Anak ng Tupa, Moyg), Albert Ascona (No Fucking Morals, Gut Reaction, Throw, Beauty of Doubt, Granada) and Albert Sy with Fishbone still standing as the band leader remains true to the music it started 18 years ago. While there are people who still clamor for the "Bad King" to try to change the "Maling Sistema", greedily run by "Pera", Bad Omen will continue to play to feed its soul and share with anyone and everyone who cares to listen, the music which gave birth to it --- punk rock in all its glory!
