Avec un chemin rapologique underground classique d’une dizaine d’années déjà, Baxter Dexter a su charmer le Québec avec son lot de mix-tapes, de maxi, de « featurings » et d’inédits. Longévité et régularité. Deux mots rarement lus dans les biographies d’artistes rap, musique à l’évolution permanente et aux carrières souvent brèves. À l’évocation de Baxter Dexter, ces mots sont pourtant les premiers à venir à l’esprit. Fort de 2 mix tapes majeurs, Chéri, ce n’est pas c’que tu crois (2005) et On nettoie ça Vol. 1 (2006), d’où il est l’initiateur du mouvement « Nettoyage » dont le public québécois connaît maintenant très bien le slogan : « On nettoie ça!!! ». Baxter Dexter mène sa barque depuis longtemps, avec un rap créatif et entraînant. Ces deux années de sortie vont lui permettre de se réinventer se qui le rend incontournable. Désormais, son premier album est l’un des projets les plus attendus en 2008. C’est l’occasion de se repencher sur ses nombreuses apparitions, suffisamment enjoué et inspiré pour emporter l’adhésion au fil de ces dernières années.
On pourrait donc décortiquer Baxter Dexter pendant des heures, disséquer chacun de ses morceaux, en étudier chaque « punchline » … La conclusion serait la même : Baxter Dexter fait du rap français d’un très bon niveau.
