Benni Moon This is a story about a Crazy Trip, a story about unbridled parties sometimes ending up in good old Wild West manner. It is a story about snail-infested mixing desks in the middle of enchanted woods and first and foremost it is a story about a great love… for music.

But let us start from the beginning, which is the year 1996. It was back then when Benni Moon discovered a place that instantly felt like he always wanted to be there: The colourful world of Psy Trance. His hometown Hamburg turned out to be a bubbling hot spot and when the century drew to an end this cultural melting pot came to a creative eruption: Progressive Trance marked a new step in the musical evolution of the scene and in Germany the Hanseatic city of Hamburg instantly became an international centre of this style. Thrilled by records like Ouija’s E.X.P.ansion EP or Shiva Chandra’s Lunaspice album, Benni decided that the time had come to take part in this exciting development himself and started spinning records in 1999. His deep passion became manifest in rapidly increasing skills and rubbed off on the audience already during his first public gigs. Within no time, Benni Moon became a synonym for highly energetic and innovative DJ sets.

Around the same time, 200 fraggels from Hamburg found themselves going crazy on the dance floor of a party called Somnambul. Organizing this event was another way for Benni to give expression to his ever growing passion for the Trance scene. The rest is history: Ask anybody from the Hamburg area and you will find that the annual Somnambul party grew to one of the biggest indoor events of the Hanseatic city.

When Benni is not touring throughout Europe –which brings us back to the Wild West and snail-invasion situations mentioned in the beginning- he is part of a very creative social environment in his hometown. For instance, the current label DJ of SpinTwist Records is co-founder of the Glamour Studios and moved together with his long-year friend DJ Fabio in 2008. This constellation inevitably ended up in countless mutual music production sessions and eventually brought to live the Disco Brain Damage EP in April 2010. A series of releases under different monikers followed and currently peaked in another EP which gained massive feedback in November 2010, bearing a name that summarizes the varied musical activities of Benni Moon in a wonderful way: Crazy Trip!
