Sounds Like
A sound track to a film that hasn't been made yet, but I'm sure it'd be a damn fine one.
Ben's Bedroom Band was origionally a dumping ground for all my songs that I was pleased with but were far to wussy for which ever band I happened to be in. It wasn't until a friend of mine requested a cd of these songs that I considered writing more songs specifically for Ben's Bedroom Band and making an album.
The problem with making an album was the wildly different styles song to song. I managed to group the songs into two different "moods". The nice accoustic songs and the more rocking ones. Coincidently I ended up with 8 of each. So my first album is kind of a concept album, called "Day Breaks, Dusk Creeps...", the first half being a soundtrack to the daytime and the second half dedicated to darker side of things.
If forced to do so, I'd say influences range from Bach to Metallica(early years) to Aphex Twin. But it's really a jumble of every type of music I listen to.
Without wanting to sound pretentious, I feel Ben's Bedroom Band's music is a soundtrack to cynical soul. It's nice music with dark undertones, or dark music with a glimmer of hope. That DOES sound pretentious doesn't it. Who cares, people seem to like it and hopefully there's a song for everyone on there, so IF ANYONE WANTS A FREE COPY let me know...
I'm still churning out the tunes and already have good start to album number two, and unless I find something better to do with my time it'll probably ready for the summer. Bet you can't wait.
Just so you know, since it's December the first, there is a festive favourite up; "Save The World From Bono This Xmas"..OK, he has written some damn fine tunes (and only a fool would say otherwise) but it would be nice to have a break from him at least once a year. And yes, it does contain quite a stupendous amount of swearing and bad taste, so beware, and merry Christmas!
Hi! It seems Miss Harper realised the connection after deciphering that 'Island Boy' as I have come to call him (affectionately i must say) does in fact have a real name with a real brother and is in fact 100% real. Bingo :-)
OK- just been listening- love the rolling thunder of Blind Dogs and quite partial to Goats which sounds like the soundtrack to a movie that needs to be made. Niiiiice. So come on, in a muso stylee- what's the rig (apparently musicians use the word rig in cases like this..) And spent a fairly weird school trip on Eigg once, so there's lovely.
Hey cheers for the big up on 3 Seconds - not many folk like our more serious stuff...unless of course you're being sarcastic. But even so- ta fo rthe comment! And we'll be in touch with Cubby Broccolli, if he's still alive..
Hey hey happy Thursday- just to let you know; new one up ; V.I.P.T.W.A.T.S, the subject of which should be fairly evident...it's an electro/funk/rap workout and...we quite iike it! ta ta FDA
some very good stuff! like the sequencing. do you still facy a Zombie Warrior collaboration, thinking we could send you some of our long jams and you could find some samples or sommat!?
Afternoon dude. Cheers for taking the time to have a look, glad you liked the pics. Loving your tunes, Mr Rankin gave me a cd of your stuff a year or so ago and its been on the pc and mp3 player since. Just noticed the other day that you were in his top friends so took a listen to your newer stuff. Really love the silent song. Just popped some more pics up if it interests
