Berimbrown, fundado pelo capoeirista Mestre Negoativo em 1997 proveniente de um projeto sócio-cultural e artístico, na periferia, comunidade do Maria Goretti, com o objetivo de resgatar e preservar a cultura de matriz africana e a busca da cidadania através da arte.
A banda, de Belo Horizonte do Estado de Minas Gerais, é um exemplo de uma “clássica” carreira brasileira: quem sai da periferia pode tornar-se, na melhor das hipóteses, ou jogador de futebol, artista ou mesmo músico devido ao talento desse povo miscigenado. Faltando aos dez integrantes do grupo apenas um goleiro
para formar um time completo, podendo dizer que o berimbau, instrumento símbolo, estrela guia da capoeira, seria o décimo primeiro jogador do time.
O Funk e Soul dos anos 70, com a brasilidade que vai do Samba, Atabaques aos Tambores de Minas, instrumentos de sopro, baixo e bateria, a banda consegue, sem muito esforço, associar o groove extremamente dançante, com a crítica social e naturalmente tem muito a contar, principalmente quando se vem da periferia de Belo Horizonte.
A mistura do Samba, Soul, Reggae e Tambores com a clássica luta, dança, jogo,a arte da Capoeira e o Maculelê, que foram praticados a princípio pelos escravos no Brasil, nas plantações de cana de açúcar.
O mais recente show, intitulado“Irmandade”, remete ao Século XVIII, destacando a antiga Vila Rica
(Ouro Preto) de Aleijadinho e Chico Rei, o antigo Tijuco (Diamantina) de Chica da Silva, o garimpo e as
cantigas (Vissungo, Congado) da labuta diária cantadas na língua do povo Banto, no país das Gerais.Berimbrown é a certeza de uma festa cheia de ginga, onde o público dança e se diverte sem parar.
Berimbrown lança seu mais recente Cd “ Live From Europe Tour 2007” além de músicas próprias como ; “A Fé”, “A Massa quer Som” e “Carumbé” releituras de: Milton Nascimento “Fé Cega, Faca Amolada” e Gilberto Gil “Parabolicamará”.

Berimbrown was founded in 1997 by Mestre Negoativo, a ‘capoeirista’ or practitioner of capoeira, as a spin-off of a socio-cultural and artistic project in the urban fringe areas, more specifically in the Maria Goretti neighbourhood. Its aim is to identify and preserve African cultural roots and to promote citizenship through art.
The group from Belo Horizonte, in the state of Minas Gerais, is an example of a ‘classic’ Brazilian career: a person born in the outlying districts can hope, in the best of cases, to become a football player, an artist or a musician thanks to the talent of this mixed-blood people. With its 10 members, Belo Horizonte is only missing a goalkeeper to form a full football team. The berimbau, the symbolic instrument of capoeira, could be said to be the 11th member of the group.
Combining funk and soul from the 70s with the Brazilian spirit, including everything from samba to atabaque, Minas drums, wind instruments, bass and percussions, the group combines extremely lively groove music with social criticism. Since it comes from the fringe areas of Belo Horizonte, it naturally has a lot to say.
Samba, soul, reggae and drums blend with traditional martial arts, dance and the art of capoeira and maculelê, originally practised by slaves in Brazil on the sugarcane plantations.
The latest show, entitled ‘Irmandade’ (fraternity), refers to the 18th century, highlighting Vila Rica (Ouro Preto) in the days of Aleijadinho and Chico Rei, Tijuco (Diamantina) at the time of Chica da Silva, the mines and the songs (Vissungo, Congado) that accompanied the daily toil, sung in the language of the Bantu people in the land of mines. Berimbrown is festive and rhythmical. Audiences dance and enjoy themselves from start to finish.
Berimbrown has released its latest CD, ‘Live from Europe Tour 2007’. In addition to its own compositions, including ‘A Fé’, ‘A Massa quer Som’ and ‘Carumbé’, it reinterprets pieces such as Milton Nascimento’s ‘Fé Cega, Faca Amolada’ and Gilberto Gil’s ‘Parabolicamará’.

Il a pour objectif de rechercher et de préserver la culture de la matrice africaine ainsi que de promouvoir la citoyenneté à travers l’art.
Le groupe, de Belo Horizonte de l’État de Minas Gerais, est l’exemple d’une carrière brésilienne “classique”: une personne née dans la périphérie peut devenir, dans le meilleur des cas, joueur de football, artiste, voire musicien grâce au talent de ce peuple métissé. À dix, il ne leur manque qu’un gardien de but pour former une équipe de football complète. Associant le Funk et le Soul des années 70 à l’âme brésilienne, qui va du Samba à l’Atabaque en passant par les Tambours de Minas, et aux instruments à vent, à la basse et à la batterie, le groupe parvient aisément à associer le groove extrêmement dansant à la critique sociale et, comme il vient de la périphérie de Belo Horizonte, il a naturellement beaucoup de choses à dire.
Le Samba, la Soul, le Reggae et les Tambours se mélangent à la lutte traditionnelle, à la danse, au jeu et à l’art de la Capoeira et du Maculelê, pratiqués à l'origine par les esclaves du Brésil dans les plantations de cannes à sucre.
Le dernier spectacle, intitulé “Irmandade (fraternité”, renvoie au XVIIIe siècle, mettant en valeur l’ancienne Vila Rica (Ouro Preto) de Aleijadinho et Chico Rei, l’ancien Tijuco (Diamantina) de Chica da Silva, l’exploitation des mines et les chants (Vissungo, Congado) du labeur quotidien entonnés dans la langue du peuple bantou, au pays des mines. Berimbrown, c’est un gage de fête pleine de rythme, où le public danse et se divertit à chaque instant.
