Historical or fanhistorical are my faves; George R. R. Martin's Song of Ice and Fire series; Colleen McCullough's Masters of Rome series; some of Morgan Llywelyn's stuff; Stephen King. I overwhelmingly prefer historical nonfiction over the majority of mind fluff, and I like classics like Pride & Prejudice and Wuthering Heights. I know, I'm lame.
Heroes
I don't really have "heroes"; I do have a handful of people I truly respect and who have qualities I admire and would like to emulate as a way of improving myself. Nobody is perfect, but everyone has moments of perfection. Really not trying to be all Confucius-like, but that's what I believe. We should take the best of those that we admire, and discard what isn't relevant. We are all constantly evolving. Well, maybe not my ex.

ya i am trying to breed my bettas and i am having trouble none of my bettas will breed. they either totally ignor each other or the male wants to mate but the female doesnt want to. i am pretty sure iam doing everything right but i am getting so frustrated with this. so if you have any suggestions can you please help me out.
firs of all i have to say u have some amazing looking bettas. i have a beautiful halfmoon female and male. both are solid red. i have everything ready to breed them right now they are both separate 1.5 gallon tanks and in great shape. i have them on a brine shrimp diet. and i have all the necessary items to breed them. this will be my first time doing so. i have talked to my friends relatives and local pet store and ive found homes for the kids im also going to keep a couple for myself. that is of coarse if everything goes as planned. but before i do so i got mixed up in some of my research when the females are ready to spawn do the lines on the body show up vertically as in up and down the body or horizontally as in side to side. and do the lines always show up? i want to get this straight before i attempt to breed them. and your the only person that i can contact that has bread bettas. so can you please help me out? and do u have any suggestions hints or tips that i can know? but letting me know witch lines are witch would help me a lot thank you very much. and again your a great betta breeder. -eddie
I just read "The Blimp of Death" to my mommy, and she thought it was hilarious, and she thought the warning should be passed on to some of her employees at work and maybe to a few of daddy's friends too. Would it be all right if I copied the blog onto an e-mail and spread the warning around?
Your bettas are unbelievably gorgeous!!! I'm thinking about buying a pair to breed. I tried to breed bettas in the past and I ended up with a very unwilling female betta that refused to breed.
