Sounds Like
A true metal sandwich with a side order of thrash and a tall glass of power metal.
Press & Reviews
Mindfire, the second full-length album by Beyond Fallen, is the band's latest release.
Here’s a brief look at what some of the reviews say:
Powermetal.de-webzine (Germany)
Holger Andrae
‘The meaty US-metal with some light Bay Area-elements gives followers of bands like Forbidden or Vicious Rumors a proper adrenaline kick. On Joe Karavis’s great performance alone Beyond Fallen manage to set themselves apart from the many good to very good bands in this genre. Highly recommended.’
Rock Hard (Germany)
Wolfram Küper
‘This is how timeless powermetal has to sound!’
Thoughts Of Metal-webzine (Belgium)
Tim Vervaeke
‘Changing melody, drum pattern and riffing is done in the blink of an eye, without failures, and shows Beyond Fallen can do more than pure heavy metal.’
FFM-Rock-webzine (Germany)
Martin Bothmann
‘US-powermetal is their motto and it is put across very convincingly.’
Metal Hammer (Germany)
Mark Halupczok
‘The quintet has a rather aggressive approach for a band of this style: the opening triple-pack ‘Act of war’, ‘Blood on the ice’ and ‘Enemy of an open mind’ gives the listener a thorough workout.’
Beyond Fallen performs original heavy music with the primary goals being creativity and strong musicianship, all while staying true to their heavy metal roots.
The history of Beyond Fallen begins in 2003, a few years after guitarist Steve Jasuilewicz started a nameless metal project in the fall of 2001 that would eventually evolve into the band as it is today. After searching for the right members the band finally came together in the summer of 2003, with Beyond Fallen making it’s live debut in the fall, and finishing out the year with the first recording in December - a 4-song EP at S.I. Studios in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Rounding out the lineup in addition Steve includes Mike Johnson (guitar), Tom Carden (drums), Chuck Donahue (bass), and Joe Karavis (vocals).
With a steady live schedule in 2004, one of the year's hilites was when the band won first place at Keystone College’s Battle of the Bands in the spring - a strong statement to make their mark as a legitimate force on the regional music scene.
Their song “A Line in The Sand” from the debut 4 song CD had been featured in the Top 10 unsigned artists MP3s on FuseTv’s Uranium website. The band gained distribution of this CD through Hellion Records in Germany, with several more distribution deals that followed. This exposed the band to the European metal scene and opened the door for the band to gain even more exposure overseas in the coming years.
Beyond Fallen has performed some high-profile live shows over the years with heavy metal veterans the likes of Metal Church, Over Kill, W.A.S.P, Firewind, Ross The Boss (of Manowar), Seven Witches, Joey Belladonna (of Anthrax), and many other acts.
The first half of 2005 focused primarily on writing new material, and in July 2005 the band entered S.I. Studios in Scranton, Pennsylvania again, this time to record its first full-legnth album, titled “Lost In The Shadows.” A strong schedule of live dates followed as the band coninued to build momentum and gaining new fans.
This all eventually led to the band being signed to Melissa Records, a label based in The Netherlands. The new album, recorded in January 2007 at S.I. Studios in Scranton, titled "Mindfire" and was released the following June. Metal fans and press around the world have given it high praise.
The band made their first trip to Europe in July 2007, notably performing at the 10th anniversary The Headbanger's Open Air Festival in Germany to rave reviews, and at the famous Ballroom Hamburg, in Hamburg, Germany. The European metal scene has really taken notice of Beyond Fallen, and there's no sign of slowing the growing fanbase around the world.
2008 saw the band do a few shows in the first quarter of the year, then the band took the rest of the year off after several years of non-stop work recording and playing shows to reflect on accomplishments as well as evaluate what was next for the band. This year looks to be a busy year with new material in the works as well as upcoming live dates for the band. Here's to a very metal 2009!
