In the summer of 2006 when she was just 11 yrs old, Bianca Ryan proved to America and the world that she's got talent. Videos of her performances on “America’s Got Talent” have received in total over 80 million views to date
This 14-year-old singing prodigy was the winner of the premier season of “America's Got Talent”. Simon Cowell of X Factor and American Idol fame, was so astonished by her vocal range and ability that he proclaimed during a press conference that “Bianca Ryan is potentially one of the best singers I have ever heard in my Life”. The excitement about Bianca spread and she was sought out by and worked with some of the most gifted song writers and producers in the music business including David Foster, Diane Warren, Walter Afanasieff, Emanuel Kiriakou and Simon Cowell to name a few. She is currently working closely with Quincy Jones on several music projects.
Bianca’s rise in the music industry is truly a fairytale story come true. Growing up in the inner city neighborhoods of Philadelphia, She was known as an exceptional dancer and a straight A student. Around the age of 7 she developed a passion for music and acting. One day she asked her father to take her to an audition for a new television show called Star Search. Her parents were admittedly confused, since she wanted to sing for her audition, and after all she was a seasoned dancer and up until this point had never taken a singing lesson in her life. But Bianca had a secret. Unbeknownst to everyone, she'd been fine-tuning her vocal chops while singing along to her father’s prized collection of classic Rock, Soul, Gospel and R&B records. Bianca's rendition of "Think" by Aretha Franklin stunned the Star Search producers, and landed her a coveted spot on the premier show in 2004.
From the moment she hit the stage and seen the reaction of the audience and judges she knew she had something unique, something she had to protect and nurture. She soon began studying with vocal coach Sal Dupree, and practicing hours a day in her bedroom and basement.
Bianca;s next challenge was her audition for amateur night at the Apollo where after a few performances “Showtime at the Apollo” invited her to come perform. "It was such an honor for me to sing at the Apollo theater in front of their world famous audience that felt as passionate about music as I did”. Later that year, she also appeared on the Tom Joyner show, at Birdland, and the Cotton Club.
Over the next few months she would establish a reputation as a top notch performer and was invited to sing at Madison Square Garden on 7 separate occasions, and was one of the busiest National Anthem singers on the East Coast. She was in high demand by the New York Knicks, the New York Rangers, The New Jersey Nets, The Philadelphia 76er’s, The Philadelphia Phillies, the Philadelphia Eagles and NASCAR to name a few. At the NASCAR Pepsi 400 in front of 180,000 NASCAR fans and without a microphone sound check she took the stage and delivered what could only be describe as an emotionally moving rendition of the National Anthem.
Next up: America's Got Talent. Bianca didn't disappoint. Her performance of Jenifer Holiday's "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" caused panelist and R&B singer Brandy to proclaim “you are my favorite contestant in this competition” and “This girl makes me feel like going home to practice”. Bianca went on to become the Grand Champion that season and won the admiration and respect of millions across the country and around the world.
She toured throughout Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Japan, and embarked on a 29 city tour of the United States. She continues to receives appearance requests from around the world.
This journey has brought Bianca more fame than she could have ever imagined. Still, she keeps it all in perspective. Despite so much success so early in life, she is a 14-year-old to the core. "I like to hang out with my friends, chat online, go to school, act in the school play, and joke around with my brothers and sisters," she says. Does she ever get nervous about all of this? "I don't get nervous at all. Actually, I get more excited because I'm living my dream and it’s not every day someone get’s an opportunity to do what they dreamed of doing their whole life”.
