"This popular local foursome play swirling hard rock with a sensibility that's evenly swayed by Southern boogie and soaring power pop, although when they merge the genres, it comes out heavier and more corrosive than you might expect-more Hendrix than Collective Soul or Cheap Trick."-Nashville Scene
Big riffs, harmony vocals, and finger-lickin good melodies. This be Big Jim Slade.
Believe it or not, all four members of Big Jim Slade have known each other since before they could sprout a respectable whisker.
Chris and Clay grew up together in Paducah, KY cruising in Clay's Camaro listening to KISS, Cheap Trick, Rush, and all things rock, while making their own in Chris' dad's garage.
Meanwhile, Rob and Jon were 20 minutes down the road in Benton, KY watching "Live at El Mocambo" practically every other night, blasting Trouble cassettes in the Cutlass, playing Hendrix and Zeppelin covers in the basement, and writing their own songs. Eventually, all four landed in Nashville and birthed Big Jim Slade.
Big Jim Slade has released four albums since forming in 1997, including, Plant Life (1998/OUT OF PRINT), Big Jim Slade (2000), Pacify The Herd (2002) and This is delicious. (2008).
Along the way, Big Jim Slade has won a Citysearch.com Battle of the Bands, an Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands, performed at shindigs like SXSW, Atlantis, Bonnaroo (2008 & 2009 w/EARS), the Vans Warped Tour 2003 (Atlanta date), and were a featured artist on a MP3.com/Heineken Compilation CD (250,000 copies distributed in U.S.).
Big Jim Slade has shared bills with acts such as Raging Slab, King's X, Drive-By Truckers, Robert Bradley's Blackwater Surprise, OkGo, Kevin Kinney, Nonpoint, Impotent Sea Snakes, Bare Jr., Bonepony, Hermano, Taildragger, Supafuzz, Deathray Davies, Centromatic, etc.
Big Jim Slade is also host of a popular Live Band Karaoke show at Mercy Lounge in Nashville, TN, called "Everybody's a Rockstar" (aka EARS).

Years back I listened to "Plant Life" and was totally amazed at your music. I just listened to "This is Delicious". Both composition and performance are fantastic. Keep up the great work! Don
