The project Bina & Ehud "Samba de Gringo", formed in New York in late 2003 by the Brazilian guitarist Vinicio "Bina" Coquet, and the New York organ-player Ehud Asherie, who were united around their common passion for Brazilian music and jazz of 60..s.
The project of these talented young musicians was to re-record with the "Organ Jazz Trio" classical formation (Hammond Organ B3, guitar and drums) classical tunes of Brazilian composers from the 60..s like João Donato, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Ed Lincoln, Marcos Valle, and more.
Recorded live in two sessions, on November 24th, 2003, in New York, and on March 4th, 2004, in Sao Paulo, the result was a samba-jazz, mixing Brazilian rhythms and melodies capturing the sounds of the 60.. s.
Samba de Gringo is the first ever Brazilian repertoire "Organ Trio" recording around the sound of the Hammond B3 and Guitar with a jazz flavor. From the first time it is heard, it demonstrates all the characteristics of a unique album, reminding you of the atmosphere created by artists such as Jimmy Smith,, Wes Montgomery and of the Brazilian "SAMBAJAZZ" like Walter Wanderley, JT Meirelles, Jorge Ben etc
