Binary Audio Misfits is the fruit of a musical meeting on Myspace between two highly original groups from two different cultures and two different continents.
During the fall of 2007, the French rock band Expérience contacted the Texas Hip Hop collective The Word Association and asked them to collaborate on a new song for a record Experience was working on at the time. Once the track was complete both groups were really excited by the finished product, and they decided to work on a few more songs to see what this new partnership would bring.
Audio files and emails began to fly, and over the next few months they wrote more songs and began to get a feel for their new creation, finally setting a meeting in Austin at the beginning of December 2007. The meeting was great and they seemed to vibe even better in person, so talks began about how to move the project forward. The next step was to create an E.P. and begin work on their live set. After creating about 12 songs over the next year they were contacted by La Cartonnerie in Reims, FR and offered a residency at the venue to work on the live set and play a show for their upcoming Vortex festival. This was to be their first tour together, and it could not have been better.
After their first French run they returned to Austin to play a SXSW showcase followed by Canada Music week and a stop in New York before the French half returned home. The response was great, and the guys were now set on making the moves necessary to push their new project further. They began to shop around to find a home for the new project as well as booking agents to continue the march forward. They ended up being picked up by a French label, Platinum Records, and set a date to release their self-titled album as well as a tour to support the release in the beginning of Oct. 2009.
Currently working with Platinum Records, they are set to release a CD version of their self-titled vinyl in may 2010. The single from their new CD “Get Loud or Get Dying” is currently for sale on iTunes as well as www.platinumrds.com, and Super! , a french booking agency is working on another European tour for March/April of 2010.
