'On My Own Again', one of the highlights from last years 'Nights At The Circus' album has been re-recorded and reworked in Buenos Aires with an authentic tango orchestra and mixed into a fantastic pop anthem by producer Matthew Hardern.
The Bside 'Flash Company' is a setting of a traditional English gypsy song warning young girls of the dangers of promiscuous sex and STDs. The words still have resonance and relevance for us all today.
The Cosmic remix by 'Dreamtrak' - downloadable from here - and an accoustic version
from 'David Peters' make this single an exciting and multi textured
release to reflect the different factes of Bishis musical creativity.
BIOGRAPHY
Singer, multi-instrumentalist and DJ Bishi has been described as the doyenne of hybrid music. Mixing traditional Asian instruments, English folk, electronic beats and lyrical melody, Bishi creates a unique soundworld that is pure British pop at heart.
2008 has been an exciting year - a nomination for 'The Times Breakthrough Award' at the South Bank Show Awards; recording in Buenos Aires; a sell out tour with the legendary female singers of English Folk, a great Glastonbury show and a gala concert of the entire album performed with the LSO strings. Phew!
With all this and writing/ recording for the new album underway Bishi is fast becoming a force in modern British music.
Her recent album, 'Nights at The Circus' saw her explore ancient and modern Britain, the rich tapestry of East London's folklore, social politics and dramatic history providing a vivid backdrop to her writing.
The title of the album is inspired by Angela Carter's novel of the same name- a tale of a half-caste hybrid performer, whose dark adventures cover vast regions of the world, whilst having firm roots in the London Underground.
Bishi is well known as the DJ and face of London’s notorious cult nightclub Kash Point - the up beat approach to the single mixes reflect this part of her personality "l’ve always loved DJing and a good night out, I enjoy making music to party to!"

This is the 1st single from my album – it takes the acoustic sound & throws it into electro overdrive in homage to my DJ history.There's a very collectable single - on 7" clear vinyl . The Bside 'The Three Ravens' is one of my favourite pieces - a reworking of a little known Robbie Burns poem - its means a lot to me as it was my 1st setting of a British folk song.

Medes is the solo project of producer AJ Cookson. Known for his remix work under alter-ego Forma (tKatKa, Death From Above 1979, The Knife, Matthew Rozeik, Score One For Safety), and formerly as the frontman for the explosive band The Montauk Projekt (“…some kind of locked on noise-bastard two-piece” – Organ Magazine), AJ has been a regular contributor to 100m collective projects since the label’s inception and has collaborated with many of the collective’s acts. He now delivers this outstanding and long awaited debut solo collection.

Bishi I ust read your blog... I wanted to say that your performance at the BFI was one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen and heard.. your music made the film much more accessible for me, and the whole experience was really breathtaking. I'm so sorry about the old bastard after the show, I was so angry at him for trying to destroy this experience... somehow that seems to be some people's reaction when they experience something perfect and full of beauty, because they can not appreciate it, they try to destroy it. but that was my favourite cinema experience exer, never mind him. and you looked so beautiful as well. x
