About BlackBridge *New songs up! But still under const.*
Seeping from the damp walls of a small basement in Lisbon, Maine, BlackBridge originated as the three piece rock band Radii late in 2006. Radii took pride in the simple sounds they pounded into those walls and shortly began performing at Lead Singer/Guitarist Justin Matthew’s High School and other various venues around Southern and Mid-Coast Maine.
During a 6 month hiatus in 2007, Radii drummer Branden Barnikow, and bassist Ben Powell made the move to a bigger house in Topsham. It wasn’t long before Justin found himself jamming with the other two again, producing that same great sound, only this time in a much a roomier basement. When the trio decided to make a reunion official, they made the choice to drop the name Radii signifying this as a fresh start for the band. They also chose to give the band some more versatility by adding another guitarist to the lineup. The search for that guitarist was short. Ryan Havey, who worked with Justin at their local guitar shop would fit in perfect. A simple yet skilled guitarist who also believed in making a lot out of a little. It was clear after the first rehearsal with Ryan that the band was complete.
A short ride from the rehearsal house, is an old wooden one lane bridge that crosses the Androscoggin River connecting Topsham and Brunswick. The bridge is infamously known to locals as The Black Bridge. It was Branden and Ben who crossed that bridge one day before rehearsal and presented BlackBridge as a possible new name for the quartet. It stuck.
The broad range of influences that each member of BlackBridge brings to the table is a concrete factor in the “original yet just familiar enough” music that flows from this up and coming band. Fueling off each others passion for the sounds that they create, and being a group that appreciates few things more than a kick ass rock show themselves, Justin, Branden, Ben and Ryan promise to bring each and every audience a powerful and personal performance that fans will be hard-pressed to forget.
BlackBridge is now pressing full steam ahead, booking shows in and around Portland and the rest of southern Maine, and are looking to expand their fan base into surrounding states. They are also in the midst of the pre-production phase of their debut album.
