Influences
lots of 80's punk, especially bands like Husker Du, 7Seconds, Minor Threat/Fugazi, Descendents/All, Dag Nasty, Government Issue, etc.
Black Cherry Soda formed in the summer of 1990 with high school friends Scott Tyson, Dan Rauter, Pete Radano, and Tim Rauter. In 1991 we recorded "Interesting Life Of Mine", a 15 song demo. In 1993 came "Chew Your Cud", a 7 song demo followed by a split 7" on Boot to Head Records with Sometime Sunday. With the bassist Pete moving to Seattle in 1994, Dave Calamaro, another high school chum, was the obvious replacement. In 1995 we were signed to Via Records and recorded "Grin". This record was basically a "best of" record for the band, featuring our favorite songs from the past 4 years. In February of 1997 we went back in the studio to record "Back On the Map", a self produced record that was picked up by Bulletproof Records the following year and released in the fall of 1998. At that point the band had for all intents and purposes dissolved, with the brothers' Rauter living in Nashville to pursue other avenues in the music industry, while Scott and Dave went on to form Aquaport which still is playing in the Philadelphia area.
