Interests: Fly fishing - there is nothing quite like standing knee deep in a turquoise blue river "hunting" a trout. We never kill or eat the fish, just catch and release. I call it "the dance". The great thing about fly fishing is it takes so much active concentration and skill to land a fly just above a rising trout so every other thought or worry disappears. A fly fisherman only has room in their mind for the task at hand, and that is his competitor: the fish.
Sailing - I love living on the boat as much as sailing it. It rocks me to sleep, and sitting on the deck is instant relaxation.

That is tough. I have many mentors in business, and several great friends I really admire, but most of all, I must say my parents...they really figured out this thing called life.

My life has gone in amazing and unexpected directions since I was young, and I could have never imagined that at age 31 my job title would be “Chief Shoe Giver.” I started the Shoes for Tomorrow project after traveling to South America in 2006. My goal was to learn to sail in Brazil and take polo lessons in Argentina but after befriending so many children who did not have shoes to protect their feet, I was inspired to create a business that would give back.
My polo instructor, friend, and co-founder Alejo, and I spent the next few months in Argentina becoming shoe makers, and I returned to the States with a duffle bag full of shoes. My goal was to sell 10,000 pairs, and for every pair sold, one pair would be placed on a child in need.
To date, TOMS has given over 140,000 pairs of shoes, and in 2009, TOMS plans to give 300,000 pairs of shoes to children around the world.

I can't begin to tell you how much I admire the work that you are doing. I own so many pairs of Toms that I've lost count and I wear them everywhere. I've been too many less fortunate countries and have seen what your work can do, now if only we could do we could come up with other items greatly needed to give in the same fashion. You amaze me and have a great heart and I know exactly what you're talking about both when it comes to living on boats and fishing.
Hi Blake! =) You are INCREDIBLE! Such an inspiration. I absolutely adore my Tom's! I have them on right now infact! And I've bought them for everyone in my family too. What an awesome cause to help children in need. I hope you have a great day! God Bless.
