To this day, the number one question Blessed receives from fans is, “Where can I get Natural African?” Winning fans the world over with that signature track, the remix featuring Queen Ifrica is now available on Blessed’s self titled and long awaited debut album which has been co-produced by Grammy winners, Jazzwad and Bobby Digital. This record has a ton of rhythmic flavor, dancehall appeal, and conscious vibes, making it a must buy. The album is out on the Explorer imprint and distributed by Universal Records.
Blessed became internationally renowned in 2002 when he received critical acclaim for his break-out urban hit Love (African Woman) and earned his first JUNO Award for Best Reggae Recording with the same release. The single charted in the number one position in many countries including Trinidad, Germany and Canada and peaked in the third spot on IRIE FM radio in Jamaica. Produced by Firehouse Crew, the song was affectionately renamed Natural African by reggae enthusiasts and fans of Blessed everywhere.
Maintaining his success year after year, Blessed won a UMAC Award for Best Reggae Recording with the single Can’t Say No More in 2002, gained nominations for JUNO Awards in 2003 with Smile and Empty Barrels featuring Kardinal Offishall in 2004, while taking home the UMAC for Empty Barrels that same year. Blessed recently claimed both the UMAC and his second JUNO Award for Best Reggae Recording with Reggae Time.
Blessed has shared the stage with some of his favourite artists including Lauryn Hill, Gregory Isaacs, Beres Hammond, Marcia Griffiths, Wayne Wonder, Capleton and Sizzla. If you've ever had an opportunity to see Blessed at one of his stage show performances you know that his voice and power on stage will win you over almost instantaneously. Blessed has also performed on the first edition of every International Reggae Festival in Canada and will be commencing a North American tour with the legendary Chaka Demus and Pliers later this year in support of his debut album.
The album is available at all major outlets including HMV, Best Buy and Wal-Mart, and the lead singles are receiving strong rotation on radio, especially in Jamaica. The video for Reggae Time is airing on HYPE TV, BET, Much Music, Much VIBE, Much More Music and affiliate stations.
