Dickie Peterson (bass, vocals), Andrew 'Duck' MacDonald (guitar, vocals), Paul Whaley (drums)
Influences
"The blues, mostly. Chicago stuff like Jimmy Reed early on..big city jazz...the Yardbirds also. Early rhythmn n blues...Stax/Volt stuff like Otis Redding. Duck Dunn from Booker T & the MGs as far as bass players. As far as rock, Little Richard. You have to be influenced by Elvis and Chuck Berry in some way. Alot of younger musicians... bands like the White Stripes. Even Aerosmith. I get alot of inspiration from just jamming w/ different people. Younger people. Myself or any of my contemporaries were into the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.. they made rock music accesible. Janis Joplin probably influenced Paul. She just pissed me off..." Sounds Like
"A tidal wave. We make every effort to make our sound a physical experience. That's one thing people always say about walking away from Blue Cheer. That's not a nice band."

ROADBURN NOTE-
If I look emotional in the snap of Dickie and me, is that I had a job
getting to you, man! A few days before the fest, my boyfriend does his
ankle in and can't ride...so I load him and his crutch on the back on
my
bike, get on the ferry to France, cross Belhium and holland, in gale
force
winds and roads crawling with trucks, get to the venue and hear: 'Hi
we're
Blue Cheer and this is what we do' - haha. 1%.
Rock on,

Can't wait to see you in Los Angeles!
I got married 4 months ago and I thought you might find it interesting and amusing that "Vincebus Eruptum" was the soundtrack to our wedding night :) I hope you are having a good tour.
Cheers,
Drew

"please come back to San Diego, I want to bask in your sonic glow, I'd love to do a full on psychadelic light show for you that is 60's x 40 years better and more visually aggressive if you come here. You have the touch for loud, most bands mis-use it, they don't ajust their music to be optimum loud. With you I can hear every note and drum beat clearly even when its scary loud, you've listened and got the perfect sound. Best hard rock show I've ever been to."

Reply Subject: Blue Cheer
I saw Blue Cheer last night in Brooklyn, made a last minute decision to skip the Unsane/Brought Low show. I figured I can see those bands again, but I may not get a chance to see Blue Cheer too often. Reunion type shows usually suck (not sure if this is really a reunion, I think they have been playing together a little bit here and there for years). Definitely one of the best geezer rock shows I've seen, if not the very best. Much better than the genteel Cream reunion that they showed on PBS, in my opinion.

"Here's something a bit different. These guys are heavily influenced by Rory Gallagher, Status Quo and early 70's British bluesy hard rock. They've got a great groove in the rhythm section, a fine guitarist in Guy Rosewall, and their album 'Bullfrog Blues' is recommended! The album includes a rockin' take on Rory's "Seven Days". Definitely not another SRV clone"
"The band is driven beautifully by Terry Brown on drums and Tim Chapple on bass, the latter laying down a stomping beat on every number.......... on the showing of this album I would strongly recommend them" (Ian McKenzie - Blues In The South).
