Influences
Here's that little ol' band from Texas doing their thing at the Grugahalle in Essen, Germany on April 19th, 1980 for the Rockpalast show which the WDR broadcasted live. It was April, 20th already when ZZ Top hit the stage as the last band that night, I think it was around 4:00 am, jeeezz... We all watched it on TV back then which gave our band its "musical direction". By the way, this may have been one of the last occasions where "Pearly" (Billy Gibbons' 1959 Les Paul guitar) was allowed to go out on stage and be spotted in public.
Thanks to Eagle Rock TV for uploading these fine clips to YouTube! By the way, if you watch closely you can spot the Rodgau Monotones in the first clip "waving their banner all over the place". They're just crazy, you know, that's why we cover them, too...
These are our newest live videos from the open air coverband festival in Hamburg-Moorburg on July 25th, 2008. "Erbarmen/Jesus verließ St. Pauli" is the German version of ZZ Top's "Waitin' for the bus/ Jesus just left Chicago" written by Hannes Bauer, a Hamburg-based guitar player who founded Bauer, Garn & Dyke in the late '70s and is also the regular tour guitarist for Udo Lindenberg. And "Koko Blue" is one of the oldest ZZ Top songs that we cover, it's from their second album "Rio Grande Mud".
Here's an example from the Fehmarn Festival Group Christmas party at the barn in Dänschendorf on Nov 24th, 2007 where we started with "Thunderbird" from ZZ Top. They organize the free Jimi Hendrix Revival Open Air Festival on the isle of Fehmarn each year, and their president JJ announced us. The clip is in black & white, because the digicam has a "coolness switch" that is automatically triggered when detecting such content. And of course it's "captured as it came down - hot, spontaneous, and presented to you honestly, without the assistance of studio gimmicks."
Since 1980 this blues rock trio from Hamburg has mainly covered the songs of ZZ Top, but also Cream, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Bryan Adams, Rodgau Monotones, Bauer Garn & Dyke, Westernhagen, Queen, The Police and others, so that's longer than the originals do them most of the time. Read the whole story in the Tales Of Mystery And Imagination blog now! It's mainly in German though, so try the "Translate" link at the bottom, it's fun...
A repertoire list is available at LastFM with almost all original tracks and on the Bluezz Bastardzz homepage as a text file. There you can also find a playlist with older demo recordings. Just click on the link, and your usual audio player should start automatically. Bookers, organizers, press etc. can download band info files in German and English, e.g. as a Word document or a PDF file with band picture and technical rider for our stage setup. Also have a look at MyspaceTV, YouTube, LastFM, Facebook or Twitter for more or if you would like to add us there.
