What lie's within one man's heart and soul is a mystery that has yet to be solved. Allow me to introduce you to a man who's heart, soul and career spans the better part of the last thirty years and counting. Robert Nunez, known to his many fans as Bob Mitchell, has had to travel a long and winding road of emotions and life lessons learned. Those lessons have shaped his heart, mind and soul, to help him be where he finds himself today.
"The Bob Mitchell Band" is the latest incarnation of what has been, up to this point, a stellar vocal career that dates back to the early '80's. Starting with the classic Heavy Metal champions "Attacker" whose world-wide cult following still exists to this very day. A fact which was quite evident by the 3,000 plus rabid fans that witnessed what was to be Mr. Mitchells final performance with the classic heavy metal quintet. His final performance with the band was at the Keep It True X Festival in Lauda-Koningshofen, Germany in April of 2008. Little did the fans know, at the time, that they were witnessing the closing of a chapter in Metal history.
Through the years, Bob Mitchell has worked with some of the most talented and gifted musicians in the hard rock and metal game. But the one relationship that shines brighter then all the others is his collaboration with the late, great Guitar virtuoso Jim Mooney. Together, they co-wrote and created the higly acclaimed 1985 Heavy Metal classic, "Battle At Helms Deep". In the years that followed, Mitchell also found sucess with, "Sleepy Hollow", "Alchemy X" and "Vyndykator". But do not dispare! The page has been turned and a new chapter now begins!
In this chapter, "The Bob Mitchell Band" presents eight of their all time favorite songs for your listening pleasure. Stylistically, the album ranges from the placid Beatles classic," RAIN", to the hard driving, reworked version of the Bachman Turner Overdrive/Krokus classic, "Stayed Awake All Night", to the haunting rendition of Led Zeppelin's "No Quarter".
To help attain this goal, Mitchell recruited three world class musicians who also happen to be long time friends; New Jersey session musician Bruce Gatewood provided the Drum tracks and keyboards, Bassist Mike LePond (Symphony-X, Seven Witches) found it in himself to re-create some of the greatest bass riffs in rock music and life long friend, Guitarist Frank Oqendo, simply exhibits versitility and exemplifies the true art of Rock Guitar playing.
Together. they have suceeded in putting their own special twist on these anthems of Classic Rock to make them totality unique and personal. This CD is truly a gift in more way's than one. All the proceeds from the sale of this CD and DDL, will be donated to the Christ Hospital Foundition and the American Heart Association. These are two beneficiaries that are very close to Bob's heart.
Away from the stage, his great passion is the medical field for which he has proudly been a part of for the last eight years. He has dedicated his life to entertaining his fans, caring for his patients and treasuring his family! I'm sure all of you will enjoy and appreiciate the efforts of these dedicated musician's. It is for you, the fans of Classic Hard Rock and Heavy Metal. So sit back, listen and reminisce. But most of all smile. After all, life is hard but it ain't that hard. Just ask Bob.
