Bio
The funny thing about being a musician is that you'd rather spend your time playing music than updating the bio on your myspace page. But here goes. I can't promise that I'll be updating this thing all that often, but I will try and get some more history up here soon. .... In the meantime here is the short version. I played guitar and co-wrote some of the songs in a band called Winter Hours for most of the 80s, we had a few records in the college charts, toured for a few years, joined the majors for a while and then faded away early in 1990. Along the way we met a lot of nice people in other bands, a lot of nice people who let us sleep on their floors and in their beds, and a lot of really nice people who showed up at nightclubs, college concert halls and theaters across the United States. We got to play with the likes of Marshall Crenshaw, Marti Jones and Don Dixon, Mitch Easter's Let's Active, The Godfathers, The Hoodoo Gurus, Green on Red, The db's, Translator, Squeeze, Concrete Blonde, and Cheap Trick to name a few. It was a great time to be young and living in a van. There's a nice tribute over at http://www.myspace.com/afewunevenrhymes.... When it was over I stumbled around for a while and eventually stated writing again and auditioned for a band looking for a singer with songs. I wasn't much of a singer but I had a cassette demo and the other guy auditioning that day never showed up. Eventually that band became tabula Rasa and we made a compact disc in 1995. It had some great music on it thanks to Chris Flynn, Sean Seymour and Alan Katz. I left that band but we all make mistakes. More on that later.. I made two solo records one of which came out on Cropduster Records and one that didn't. Chris, Sean, Alan, myself, Stephanie Seymour, Julia Greenberg, Jeff Epstein and James Mastro took a stab at running the label we called Cropduster and for a while it was very productive. We planned a lot of record release parties and played at each others' shows. Eventually we tried to hand it over to some new duster's but all things must pass. .... That's it for now. To be continued....... One last thing if you made it this far. The song Faded Pictures was written by dear friend Joe Marques of Winter Hours. Joe left us in 2003. I hope he and you like my version. The rest of the songs are from the collection called American Standardsville. It's my record that never was. .... Stay tuned... Bob Perry -
