United Kingdom
Here's what The Guardian had to say about us recently:
Guardian Guide Sat 19th September 2009
UPCOMING EVENTS
has moved into its seventh year of
promotions and djing.
Bonanza has been invited for the second year in a row to take part in the Camden Crawl 2010 and we are honoured to have been asked to sit on the selection commitee.
Bonanza was six years old on 16th September 2009 and celebrated this momentous occasion by throwing a series of very special parties beginning with a veritable DJ BONANZA on Wednesday 16th September at the Lock Tavern with a whole host of guest DJs who have spun the wagon wheels of steel at Bonanza soirees over the years.
Then on Thursday 24th September Bonanza threw a joint party because it was also 'Countrier Than Thou's' 2nd birthday party @ The Lock Tavern.
On the bill was very special guest DJ Mr Andrew Weatherall
with one of his legendary Rockabilly and Country sets + some Lo-Fi, Sci-Fi obscurities to mess with your heads.
+ The Florence Joelle and Sterling Roswell Band + Turnstile Junkpile + a cd giveaway of Bonanza's 'Countrier Than Thou' compilation Vol.2.
Later in the year the celebrations will culminate in the form of Bonanza's 4th 'The Battle Of The One Man Bands Round 4'.
Live acts to be announced + special guest DJs.
BONANZA is proud to announce that after a summer rest Tripping In The Country will be relaunching at The Slaughtered Lamb in Clerkenwell at the same event.
Tripping In The Country will then go monthly @ The Slaughtered Lamb
www.myspace.com/trippinginthecountry
is very excited to announce the launch of FOUR brand new club-nights 'The High Chaparral' at The Stag in Hampstead...
'(It's) Countrier Down South' at The Rest Is Noise in Brixton (Thurs 8th October)...
'Calamity' at The Fellow in Kings Cross (Sunday 11th October 2009)
... and 'Jesus Freaks & Beautiful Losers' @ Dalston Superstore (20th October with guest DJ Richard Fearless + Many more)
Jesus Freaks & Beautiful Losers is a DJ led night not like anything else in the Bonanza cannon. Your hosts and special guest DJs will be spinning 10 Decades (yes that's 100 years) of underground, unheard, undiscovered, unearthed and uneasy sounds!
So expect to hear anything from Rare Appalachian Mountain music next to hard to find 60's Psych' B-sides followed by Avant Garde Jazz perhaps sandwiched between obscure 80's Norwegian Electronica, monolithic slabs of 70's Krautrock and brand new tracks from unknown up and coming acts!...
The only link will be that it's all quality tunes! This night won't even have a fixed venue so expect to see it all over London! (Lock Tavern Wed 18th Nov)
also hosts The Cosmic Film Club at The New Rose in Angel every 3rd Thursday of the month... as well as monthly dj sets @ Cocomo in Shoreditch, The Regent in Kensall Green, The Stag in Hampstead and The Slaughtered Lamb in Clerkenwell.
Who I'd like to meet:
