Bound by Entrails was born in the winter of 2004 by Velg as a solo project.
The name, Bound by Entrails, refers to the temporary fate of Loki as he was bound by the entrails of his son as punishment for the death of Baldur. As we humans have all been responsible for the death of nature, so may we be bound by the leavings of our ancestors. The only way that we shall be freed is by the trembling of the earth, as it falls into destruction.
The first demo was recorded in the spring of 2005, a three track that was never publicly released, but instead used as a tool to recruit other musicians to create a full band.
In the fall of 2005, Mortaeus and Nitoh Mahkwi of Black/Death Metal band, Envenom Ascension, joined Bound by Entrails and they began contributing to the music that would become the first demo album, Overture to the Fallen, which was publicly released in March of 2006.
Inn March of 2007, the full-length For Valhall’s Sorrow was released. The album drew from the dystopian atmosphere of mid 90's black metal, blending a reverence for second wave black metal with a contemporary progressive edge.
In June of 2007, Velg relocated to Anchorage, Alaska. Upon agreement with the former members, Velg reformed the band with new drummer and guitarist Seele Mörd and Vitreik. The band released a full-length album expanding upon the earlier vision of Bound by Entrails while exploring new musical territory. It was supposed to have been released in the summer of 2008, but due to time restrictions and the departure of both Vitreik and bassist/keyboardist Stidt to pursue studies out of state (Vitreik going all the way to England!). The album was released in Fall of 2009 and is titled The Oath to Forbear and the Burden of Inheritance
Also, expect to see Bound By Entrails in an upcoming compilation, giving tribute to Emperor, Ved Buens Ende, and Arcturus, by Russian label Aspherical Asphyxia, in which BBE's contribution is in the form of Emperor's "Inno A Satana".
After the departure of Vitreik to England, Bound By Entrails picked up a new bassist, Mark Eppihimer and Swedish guitarist Christopher Hansson. The band is currently in the process of writing new material to follow The Oath... The Burden.
