The Brain Surgeons are the brainstorm of Deborah Frost and Albert Bouchard, the dude who really put the cowbell in "Don't Fear the Reaper." Deborah Frost is one of the few people who can claim to have almost been born in the theater, New York's City Center, to be exact, where her mother went into labor during Cyrano de Bergerac. She has since spent most of her life on one side or the other of footlights. After being heralded by Joseph Papp at age 16 as the voice of her generation, she appeared on the New York stage in productions including Tom Eyen's(Dreamgirls) Dirtiest Show in Town, went to Harvard, and played drums in the pre-punk Flaming Youth (described by one New York daily as the female Dolls, who, like Kiss, hung on and played the same circuit). Like Patti Smith and Chrissie Hynde, she had plenty to say not only in music but ABOUT it and contributed to Rolling Stone, The Village Voice, Creem, The Boston Phoenix, and countless daily, weekly, monthly publications and books to which she could not say no. With various live line-ups and occasional guests including Buck Dharma and Joe Bouchard (Blue Öyster Cult), Soozie Tyrell (Bruce Springsteen), the always fabulous (and original Blondie cohorts) Tish & Snooky, the Brain Surgeons have recorded a bargeload of great music, most of which can be found on ITunes, even if some CDS are now bonafide, out-of-print collectibles. DENIAL OF DEATH, the most recent album, featuring Ross the Boss (Dictators, Manowar) on guitar, is available at fine outlets around the world or by clicking link below.
