Now entering its fourth year, Brainwash Festival has cemented itself as an integral part of the Leeds music calendar. Combining a diverse selection of UK and international artists with Leeds’ finest, we aim to promote good music for a good cause. This year we will be looking to aid the work done by Unicef, Leeds St. Gemma’s Hospice and Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
Highlights for this year include Jaga Jazzist returning to the UK for the first time since 2005 for one of only two UK shows in 2009 on the Thursday; Chickenhawk displaying Leeds’ raw underbelly on Friday (salivate over their zombie video here); Hot Club De Paris and Pulled Apart By Horses bringing the house down on three stages on halloween at the Brudenell/ RPC; Efterklang and Oceansize teaming up in Stylus for our first foray into Leeds University to close the Sunday, with South Africa’s BLK JKS and Grammatics (returning to headline Mine after a 23 date tour with Bloc Party) on the second stage.

Hiya What a summer its been!! We’ve been working hard in the studio and are currently recording our first commercial EP 'What Katie Did' which will be released around October time. You can hear a demo version on our MySpace.
We are not planning any live shows until we are ready to promote the EP but you never know we may pop up at a venue near you.
Thank you for the support. It means a great deal - the past few months have been amazing. Great reviews, great shows up and down the country, airplay and interviews with Kerrang! Radio & Total Rock Radio, even a show at Alexandra Palace for Freestyle Festival has been confirmed.
Alexandra Palace will bring an end to our first major UK Tour. The tour leads up to the official release of our first EP proper, 'Guerilla'. This will be available everywhere on November 2nd.
If you're not too familiar with us yet, there are some reviews below and you can pick up some free downloads from our Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/NIXA/8798900727).
Here are the dates (more to be confirmed).
See you out there x
"NIXA possess a quality that sets them apart from other front runners on the alt/rock scene with perfect dynamics and incredible song craft. They bounce between gentle and aggressive in a single beat, tied with soaring harmonies and mesmerising stage presence. This band will find themselves being listened to by a wide audience, no doubts in both the alternative and commercial rock scenes" TOTAL ROCK
"...done very, very well. Deep, powerful voice, BIG music and just the feeling that something very professional is happening -I don't mean in a clinical way, just in that way that, when you find out they're unsigned, it's a bit of a shock!" XFM
"The absolute epiphany of my weekend was London based Nixa. Everytime I see this band, I fall in love a little bit more. Their performance was stunning and it was definitely the climax of the night as things petered off afterwards. Their Biffy Clyro-esque style, gorgeous vocal harm
Hi guys. WE NEEEED votes. We entered the Greenpoll to play the greenman festival. BUT WE'RE LOSING! Got through to the second round, and now a few days before it's all over we're going down not up, and we were soo close...
