The music, it just wasn’t speaking to me anymore. That is to say, 2006 was a hard year. A really hard year. That was a year which saw breakups, breakdowns and the worst mental place I’ve ever been in my life. During this time I just wanted to feel whole, to feel OK and most of all to feel anything but the emptiness I was living. And worst of all, the music just wasn’t speaking to me.
Looking for solace in the pulse of the clubs, the booming halls, and the bitter scenes… all I could hear was this muddy sound of confusion, feigned cynicism… words without meaning. Words too busy fitting in to stand out. Tired words lost in the mud. Lost in the hum of street lights and blurry nights.
Searching for meaning I thought I couldn’t get any more lost… but slowly words started to make it out of all this mess… Pieces of truth, moments of energy… strong words looking for life. Blinding words demanding a voice. And it was these words that burnt my heart and gave me hope… saved my life.
Breath and Decay was born of this new strength, this courage for truth and this message of hope. For the first time in years, the music was speaking to me.

I apologize for this taking so long but I finally had the opportunity to work with the photos from the Madison show back in October. Please take a look - they are in an album called Breath & Decay. I hope you like them!
