Influences
I supoose my main influences in modern music, are the ones I grew up with Like the Beatles,Simon and Garfunkel,John Denver, Jim Croce,James Taylor, Carole King, Joan Baez. John Denver and Joan Baez, I met and entertained at Ashford, some years ago. In the Irish sence I was very taken with Makem and Clancy and I sing a lot their songs,
Being classically trained, I have played and listened to all the main composers, but I think it wonderful what those classical musicians who couldn't make it in the classical world did with their own music and then made it. People like Oscar Peterson (Jazz Genius), Neil Sedaka Wonderful pianist, Peter Nero, Michael Le Grand(Film Music) Burt Bacharach, All these musicians tried and failed at calssical perfection but carried on to other wonerful things leaving a vast amount of wonderful melodic music for us to enjoy.
all these artists have influenced my style of instrument playing and composition.
Sounds Like
I dont sound like anybody, I sound like my self, there are too many musicians out there creating so called new music styles that sound like whoever.
I believe in doing things my own inimmitable way. My style is my style, if you like it, you like it, if you dont, you dont, Simple as that!!

A Little About Brendan.
Born in Dublin back back some years ago, always had the music bug. Learned piano and guitar, studied music at RIAM,acted as musical diredtor to many musical societies and choirs in Dublin, whilst working a real job in insurance(bloody awful), came to live in Galway 1984/5, found my real self, left insurance(thank God),
now working in music full time.
I have been the Resident Pianist/Guitarist/Entertainer at Ashford Castle for the past 22 Years.
I also run a project recording studio. The dark side of me shows a much deeper musical personality than the night job at Ashford.
A talented arranger and composer of music songs and lyrics.
The songs you're listening to are my own work, hope you enjoy,
hopefully in the not too distant future there will more for you to sample, your constructive comments are welcome
(no bulshitters please).
I also sing at wedding ceremonies,in the west of Ireland, you can go to www.brendanobyrne.com for details and a download sample. I love a musical challange and have just completed a classical recoring project where the the piano accompaniments had to be programmed, I was amazed at the results. I love and work in all normal genres of music.
Thats all for now!

Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001
Where traditions are not so rare; Sea, country and works scent the air; A multitude of monuments, Planted tubs and patterned pavements.
The longish pedestrian malls; The remnants of defensive walls; Historic buildings are a gauge Of the respect for heritage.
Wheat, rape and pines in the fields; Estuaries guarded by shields; Long sandy beaches and wide scenes; Romantic-ruin go-betweens.
Rivers in parts licked by trees, Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries, And crossed by practical delights - Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.
Fine churches headed at Durham; Football kits ad infinitum; Kept castles - one for study; Masonry behind masonry.
And, with moulding-works out that way, It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?

Poem 2 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): WALKABOUT WITH MY PEN
Once drove an old sedan, up north, From a place in Sydney to Cairns; Then to Kuranda I went forth, By train, to look without set plans.
I browsed through the trendy market, With fresh fruits of tropical kind; Walked to the creek through lush thicket - Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.
I dined in a scenic cafe; Then, outside, as I wrote for yen, Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey, You go walkabout with your pen.”
Request or question, I don’t know - Assured voices, elderly men. That’s now several years ago, And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.
