BRENT AMAKER AND THE RODEO selected to perform at Popkomm Festival (Berlin).
PRESS RELEASE:
The music plays here – first bands for the Popkomm Festival line-up confirmed
Hardly two months have passed since we started accepting applications for the 2007 Popkomm Festival and, as last year, we have been inundated.
The first bands taking part have now been confirmed and can get their bags packed ready for a visit to music Mecca Berlin: Belasco (UK), CatPeople (Spain), Brent Amaker & the Rodeo (USA) and Von Luft und Liebe (Germany).
The amount of new musical talent discovered at Popkomm 2006 was huge. 400 acts from 26 countries made sure of over 600 hours of live music at 30 Berlin clubs.
br>In 2007 Popkomm again intends to justify its reputation as the showcase festival in Europe with the biggest number of international bands, an aim underlined by the initial selection of bands. English rock trio Belasco will be arriving from the UK. This band already showcased at the Popkomm 2004, a move that opened doors and helped their further career
Belasco: “We played at Popkomm and it led directly to us signing a great deal in Australia and gave us great ins into other countries too.“
Performing later this year at Popkomm, the Spanish post-punk revival band CatPeople is hoping for a similar success. “ We think Popkomm is very important to new bands because we can show what’s going on in our country’s independent music scene. Popkomm could be a great platform!“
Cowboy hats and Lone Ranger masks – in their home town Seattle, Brent Amaker & the Rodeo’s (photo) live show has already become legendary. At Popkomm, this band will be aiming to take Europe by storm with their unique brand of country music: Our new CD is currently charting on college radio in the United States. We hope the people of Germany and the rest of Europe will enjoy our take on old time country music.“
Mannheim band Von Luft und Liebe prefer a much softer approach. Singer Tamara Unterhuber: “This is the first time for us at such an event. Popkomm is the industry event, so it’s simply overwhelming for us to be able to play here. Roll on September!“
Popkomm Director Katja Bittner says: “The trademark of the Popkomm Festival is the quality of its showcases, from the quality of the artists to the technical equipment at the clubs that is essential to a live event. Every club is representative of its own slice of music culture, good for the different types of music that these bands play.“
Labels, DJs, managers and music projects have until 15th May to send in their applications for the Popkomm Festival and DJ Night

The spirit of true country music lives on through Brent Amaker and the Rodeo. Raise your glass, take a shot, and watch your back. The Rodeo is here, and it's about time.

Quite simply the most horrendous album I’ve ever had the misfortune to hear and review. Gawd help us.

Hello, after an unfortunate hiatus, the reasons for which are probably best not gone into here, we finally have some new music on the AUK MySpace site. For your listening pleasure this month we offer Nathan Oliver, Conrad Ford, the irrepressible Todd Snider and the delightful Beccy Owen. Don't forget too, for those of you within striking distance of Leicester, Electric Dustbowl 2 on 19 September.
I'm happy to announce that my new album "Songs From The Films Of David Lynch" is out now.
"Truly unsettling and perplexingly brilliant... testament to both the quality of Lynch’s soundtracks and Truax’s talents" - The Skinny
"Truax is paying homage to a kindred spirit with this album. It's the best kind of tribute – affectionate and respectful, but with its own quirks and imaginative leaps and its own distinct identity." -The Scotsman
