Brian Dwayne Alexander Dekkers was born and raised on the island of Curaçao. At a young age, Brian was very active in sports. He began playing baseball when he was 7. But when he turned 13 his interest shifted from sports to music.
When he was fourteen, a few neighborhood friends asked Brian to join them in starting a new band, called Big Star. It was in this band that he had his first hit called “Destino tabata ke”.
At this point, he was busy with baseball, singing in a band and school.
The turning point in his life began at the age of seventeen. At that point Big Star wasn’t enough for Brian. He wanted to achieve more than what they had to offer him. So he left the band to sing alongside a rap group, New Generation. With this group he wrote his first song “Ban Duru Awo” and started calling himself Brian D. After a couple of months he realized that New Generation also wasn’t the thing he was looking for at that time.
Later that year, a local band No Game offered him a position as lead singer. He took this offer and made his debut on the 30th of July 2004. Entering this band was a good move by Brian because here he met good Antillean musicians such as Axel Pikero, Reinier Lijfrock and many more. With No Game he scored hits like “Laga mi biba”,“Nan no por kibra nos” and “Kurason of Konsenshi”.
He also won two awards at the 2005 “Premio Karabela” (here they recognize the outstanding talents from Curacao in sports and entertainment). Brian won an award for singer of the year and best song.
After two years of success with No Game he had to part with the band as he decided to study in the Netherlands. Just before he left he composed a song called “Ik hou van jou” which means “I love you” in Dutch. This song was a major hit because the lyrics were a mix of four languages so that gave it a unique touch compared to the usual local songs.
In the Netherlands, he decided not to be part of any Antillean band, because he wants to focus on his solo-career and also expand his knowledge in music. He made two hits accompanied by a band called cache deluxe, “Bo Faborito” and “ Ora Bo Tin’e”, although he is not a member of this band. Seeing the success of these songs it encouraged him more to proceed with his solo-career.
In January 2007 he launched his first solo-album in titled A.L.B.O.M. (A Little Bit Of Me).
In 2009 he released two singles called “Vrijdag” (which means Friday in Dutch) and “No Wori”(Don't worry),
with which he continues his quest of breaking into the international music scene.
Brian D would like to thank all the fans for their support and for accepting his music in their hearts. [*God Bless*]
